UT tailgate…
last week, after playing a set at one of austin’s many open mics, i was booked to play at the UT alumni tailgate. “texas exes”, or so they call themselves. it was actually quite fun, i shared the stage with three other very talented singer/songwriters here in austin. i know some of you are appalled right now. how dare i betray my trojan heritage and support the longhorns? i must admit, i did feel a little guilty, as if many a person would have given me a good slap on the wrist if they had known what i was up to last saturday. but perhaps i can redeem myself by letting you know that i did turn down the offer to have a large, orange longhorn sticker placed on my cheek. :) what a good little trojan i am.
… disregard the fact that i was unaware not only of the fact that USC won their game that day, but that they had a game that day to begin with. *oops*
but really, that says nothing about my trojan pride. i do love my alma-mater, i had a wonderful time at USC and gained so much from my experiences there. i just don’t really do the football thing. or the rivalry thing. a crime, i know.
in other news, i’m starting to get a bunch of gigs lined up in austin which i am really excited about. i’m meeting tons of great musicians and other interesting folks. it will be fun to get more integrated into the local music scene here.
also, a very important side note, two days ago i said “y’all”. i didn’t even think beforehand, it just escaped out of my mouth. no one seemed to think twice about it, but little did they know inside my head i was freaking out– “how awkward??? oh god… they know i’m not from texas…. what if i said it funny?! i can’t believe i said Y’ALL!”
well that’s all from me at the moment. hope you have a lovely weekend.
