as far as spiders are concerned, tarantulas look pretty hardcore, but they’re great to handle. really gentle and they’ll walk all over your arm once they get over the initial shyness.

i don’t know about giant rhino beetle larvae, but i’ve had fried grasshoppers and frog-legs before…both were kinda…well, i wouldn’t try them again, unless i was trying to stave off starvation, let’s put it like that. bear is awesome (the man, not the meat. never had bear meat).

PS: never let one of those wasp spiders crawl on your arm. they pack a mean bite.

I just want to say that I love all of Kina’s music, particularly the ‘oldies,’ even considering that some of the newer songs are positively mind-blowing. Each song is like a snapshot in her development as a singer/songwriter and it’s exciting/amazing to see how far she’s come and how much further she will go. Felt like that needed to be said.

and “let go” is such a soothing song. i listened to it along with some of your songs right before i took a nap at work this morning [15-hour graveyard security shifts are fun when you're locked in an exhibit hall filled lots of cool crap to play with].

it made me tired, frankly. i ended up falling asleep halfway through it, then woke up halfway through “the science of sleep.” both halves were interesting, but i think i liked the “science” half a bit better.

OK, I always liked most of this song, except for the electric guitar solo. I definitely like this version better.

OK, has anyone else ever noticed how wrong Rhapsody can be sometimes? even though I own the CDs, I generally just listen to Rhapsody instead, and I am fairly certain the similar albums section is just rubbish. Evidently in Memory of the Singing Bridge is similar to Press Play by Diddy, Shaggy: the Rhapsody interview, and Hung Up by Madonna…

I like this! It is strikingly different from your more recent work and shows a completely different side of your songwriting ability and personality! I always shudder when I read comments from music fans and critics like, “[insert name of musician] should return to [insert particular sound in their musical career]” because I like musicians of any genre to evolve. Music is more interesting that way. Having said that, I will make an exception in this case.

Really, I have yet to hear you do anything bad. So, press on forward. I will be here to admire.

Wow! Monday early evening EST and I’m already 60 comments down. Great song and I don’t know if I could ever get tired of hearing it. There are a few of your songs that when they play on the iPod I repeat once or twice more. The songs have worked out well. It lasts about as long as a race on the new Mario Kart for the Wii. my company does security for different events throughout the bay area, e.g., sporting events, concerts, festivals, parades, etc. the event i just worked was the Maker Faire (http://www.makerfaire.com) at the San Mateo Event Center. i like the graveyard shifts because they give you more hours and it’s easy money, depending on where you get posted. i was lucky enough to get locked in one of the buildings where all the cool stuff was in. if you get posted outside for graveyard, that’s the worst.. since it gets cold at night here in the bay. haha

I’ve been on here on and off all day. And for some reason haven’t posted til now. Oops. sry! :]

Entomology, reminds me of the insect display we once had to do back in grade school… poor bugs, each pierced through the heart… er… nerve center(?) I forgot what those bundle of nerves in insects are called. Technically, I guess you don’t really pierce them through there anyway but I digress. I am reminded of the museum displays I used to go to, all the different kinds of insects, a cacophony of color and yet I would feel slightly sad that they are in that state. I am fascinated and at the same time sad when I go to museums. That is my eccentric moment for today.

I was always wondering, what makes me to prefer a version against an other one, or a cover vs. the original. Is it on which one i’ve heard first? It’s true for a lot of songs (eg for this) . And false too (eg: Strong enough, i love the acusitic, but loooooooooove the fully produced version -at least that 30 seconds i’ve heard of it:)) ). I think there’s no pattern for it.
But about covers vs. originals, i would say, i prefer the covers.

I do have to agree. This week has gone slower than others. Actually, I’m upset about it. Time decides to seem slower after I’m done for the semester. Normally, with a lot of work to do, time runs so fast leaving a student’s frantic to get work done. Now that there is no work to be done, time slows down. I have learned to expect these kinds of things by now, but it doesn’t mean I’m happy about them.

Oh yeah, and I want time to go faster to see more Kina.:-)

The art of the cover has been lost over time, in my eyes. Hurt by Johnny Cash is the only demi-recent cover I have liked (not counting Kina’s, of course). It used to be that I would have a hard time choosing one or the other, or I prefered the cover outright. Now, I just find bands ruining songs I like. Then again, I dislike bands now…that probably plays into it

the scariest thing happened to me today, I was in class taking the CST tests for highschool and my phone got a text message and it was from that twitter thing telling me that kina posted something, I was so embarassed because if you get caught with your phone texting, all of the students taking the test in my class get their tests invalidated, luckily my teacher either didn’t notice or didn’t care. That scared me though, I thought to myself darn Kina for having to post at that exact moment in time.

just got another text go look at the cool shirts kina made for us to buy they are at kinagrannis.com, I want to buy one but they don’t seem to manly I don’t want my friends to make fun of me for wearing a shirt with hands in the shape of a heart or a cartoon drawing of a girl and a guitar

Hmm, i guess, i found the pattern (or just a part of it)
If you like the original band, probably you won’t like the cover by an unknown/youdontlikethem/playing a different genre band
if your favourite band/performer does a cover, you’ll probably like it (i’m super lucky with my favourite band, they are doing awesome covers ;) ).
And (to be ontopic :) ), the other thing i like about covers is you get to know unknown performers/bands. I never heard about k’s choice, before kina played two songs from them. Now, cocoon crash from k’s choice is in my top 10 album ever ;))

haha, no gophers, just random sports talk and other tangeants. the chatter was just odd sometimes and there was so much of it. the whole time, kina was her gracious self. between the radio interviewers, i preferred the nervous student dj at kscr.

sorry about the sports talk, and on Lost Cause Radio they talk about everything and anything. So yes theres sometimes odd talk, but that’s how the show has been since it started months ago. Pretty much why the name is Lost Cause Radio lol. But, hopefully Kina is back on again in the future, and hopefully you guys come back on Tuesday and Friday and watch the show also.

i also missed it… for me, it was about 6am on saturday

Hey Yankeefan, no worries, I guess that’s why talk radio is what it is. I think it’s great that you’re a fan too and the exposure is good both ways. Some of the other music your channel features is worth catching. It’s just a tough mix for people who come for one format or the other. You’re the guy who could make it up to Kina fans though, if LCR is willing to post a recording. What do you say? If you podcast it I know I’d add the link to LCR on my blog ;)

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers all out there (especially mine! haha)! But no seriously, all you mothers are awesome. Thanks for giving birth to people and stuff, baking random goodies, kissing skinned elbows, listening to us yammer on and on about stuff we drew or dreams we dreamt, and holding our hands when we would cross streets. And last, but not least, making the most awesome peanut butter and jelly sandwich sack lunches ever (try saying that 5 times fast). :)
