ahhh latest post ever!! (except the day i missed altogether…) sorry, youtube has bee having problems all day long. quite the hold up.
ooh i cannot express my excitement for finally getting to put some of these blog names to faces!! thanks mis for setting the new look up! it’s fun to see who i’m talking to.
so i know this may not be as exciting as a normal blog video, but i think it’s probably the easiest way to share with people how to play my songs. so i won’t do these super often, just every now and then. “strong enough” is simple enough that i’m sure, with practice, you could learn to play it even if you don’t play guitar. so go for it :)
as for the forum– i am so excited that it is finally up! this is all thanks to misa too. if you have any suggestions of comments reguarding the forum, be sure to let us know so we can make it the best ever.
as for street team– i KNOW, i know, it’s been a while. it’s a slow process, but i promise it will be worth it. my guess (but dont hold me to it) is that we can get them out near the beginning of july. i will be sending you all a first email pretty soon though. and if you havent signed up for the street team but want to, or waht to know more, it’s not too late to email me at streetteam@kinagrannis.com
as for my current state– i have ODed on grapes. it’s bad. if a bowl of grapes is sitting near me, i will probably just keep eating them until they are gone. which is what just happened. oy.
as for the recording session this week– i’ve learned to never get my hopes up… but i’m still SO pumped. :) i’ll let you know how it goes.
as for this very annoying phrase repitition– i’m sorry, it just happened and now i’m locked into it.
lastly, as for the mission viejo concerts– i highly recommend coming out to the kaleidoscope show over the lake concert, unless you were already planning on going to the lake concert. i’ll only be playing like 3 songs at the lake (opening for an opener), and those concerts are a real big ordeal if you want to go– you have to be a member, go early to get seats, fight the crowds, etc. the k-scope show is going to be super fun, 2 hours, free, and much easier to attend. so… yay kaleidoscope!!

re: writing a song on keyboard. so far my only real attempt (aside from the song i wrote when i was little) has been stars falling down. but i would LOVE to get better at piano and do some more. perhaps i’ll work on that.

Kina, thanks for the vids…they were very entertaining as usual. So…now…how do I train my brain to be able to play guitar and sing at the same time? I guess it really doesn’t matter- God knew what He was doing by not giving me musical multi-tasking abilities. Why waste them on someone who can’t sing anyway?!
You on the other hand, make it look so easy and natural. So what do you find yourself having to concentrate more on- the singing part or the guitar playing part?
I once heard Sting say that he has trouble playing the bass part of his songs if he isn’t singing…the playing and singing in a song are so intertwined for him that it’s just too unnatural to do them individually. Do you feel the same?

Well I don’t play guitar and there is little to no chance thaqteven if i wanted to I could ever learn (not good on the music end) but I watched anyways cause it was cool to see, and I love that song, its probably one of my favorites.

I can’t play piano and sing at the same time, its very frustrating!! You’ve got the skills to play guitar and sing at the same time and its very impressive, lol. I’ll learn guitar someday and add it to my list of instruments that I play…. badly, lol. Need a saxophonist?? =)

Hahah… I once LIVED on grapes for an entire road trip from Oregon to L.A, when I was about 11-yrs old, going to see Disneyland and the Olympic trials at UCLA.
All the adults packed to drink was TAB!…. :-p nasty stuff. And back then the tap water in a lot of SoCal areas wasn’t much better.
So GRAPES it WAS. :-)

haha, you know, i get the question a lot and i always try to come up with some cool reason as to why it’s relevant. But it’s really not. Before every show, I try to explain it and it never goes right. Basically, when I was like 13, I made an AOL screen name from the word and that was pretty much it. Of course the “kz” at the end replaced the “cs” because that was cool at the time. I’ve been planning on changing the name for a while, but everyone tells me not to. So I don’t. = )

Yea. I don’t have a mic (or much talent with musical instruments for that matter) but I’m pretty sure Garage Band has a setting where it records the music you play as musical notation. So you could essentially play “Strong Enough”, have Garage Band record it, find a way to print it, (either Garage Band lets you do it directly, or find a free snapshot program that will let you take screen shots of your MAC, tedious but it works), and then you’ll have sheet music for it. So maybe it’s not a guitar tab, but most people who can read guitar tabs can read sheet music.
There might be a way to do guitar tabs directly, but I don’t know enough about Garage Band. I’ll do some reading and see what I can find. ^.^

I say don’t worry about ODing on grapes. I do that all the time. They are sooooo addicting! I try to limit myself to one bunch, but somehow a whole bowlful (is that even a word?) just works out so much nicer!

right, ok, so, I’m going to try to minimize my long and gushy “how much I love you” speech. I first heard the glory of KG [that's how I'm going to refer to your music for the remainder of this comment] on digg, and then started stalking you on youtube. so this was back… i don’t know, in the digg days, before the superbowl, etc. we fast forward a long time and I’m STILL in love with KG and everything and I’ve considered leaving you a comment or something before but it’s always so weird because… everyone can read it… so I never did. but then, tonight, I started listening to Together (again. for the hundred millionth time.) and I decided that I had just gone long enough anonymously stalking. so THIS is me telling you how much I LOVE your music, and I love listening to you (on youtube, usually, I don’t know why I’m commenting on your bla(h)g.) every week and you are just an amazing musician.
right, now I need to go eat some ice cream..and yes, this is what I consider minimizing.
