teeny tiny tour…*updated*
hello all!
**
i almost forgot!
wwar1ace, in his awesomeness, came up with a way to coordinate street team efforts in requesting my songs from radio stations. at the very least people will start to take notice if they get enough requests :) to see how it works, visit the page here. check back every week to find out which song to request, which stations to request from, and to vote for the next week’s song.
**
so last week was one of the craziest weeks ever– BUT– last friday i took home the first version of the new album (it will still be tweaked, edited, mastered, etc)!!! i’m not going to get too into it… but turns out i’m pretty excited :)
calling all east coasters and midwesterners!!!!
the teeny tiny tour… here we go:
this little psuedo tour will be taking place from feb 23-26ish. the dates and venues are not set yet, but i will be hitting up, in this order:
- Washington, D.C.
- an American Heart Association “Go Red For Women” Event in South NJ
- Philadelphia, PA
- New York, NY
- St. Louis, MO
i am sooooo excited! i’ve only played one show on the east coast EVER and NONE in the midwest. i hope to meet a lot of you in person :)
oovret: Week 31
What is your dream car?
i quite like the shape of BMW 3 series… but i think my little honda civic looks close enough :) my dream car would probably fly though.
Are you allergic to any foods?
hmmm… not really. i think my body likes soy better than dairy, but i still consume both. i am, however, allergic to cats and rabbits and dust and pollen and tylenol.
If you could own either C-3PO or R2-D2, which would you choose?
r2d2 is cuter, but he’d probably get a little annoying. hm.
What is your hot beverage of choice, for a Tim Tam Slam?
oh boy, if you want to be really decadent– hot chocolate. for a lighter experience, i’d go with english breakfast tea with some milk in it.
Do you enjoy shopping?
um… sometimes i think i do, and then i go, and then i want to leave. it can be fun, but i’m a pretty impatient shopper, i just start thinking about all the other things i could be doing with my time. plus i start to feel really sick when i spend money.
p.s. oops… correction! i meant “austyn” not “austin”!! (i used up my quota of brain cells for the week!) sorry cousin :)

Welcome back Kina!
December 9, 2008
thank you for the shout-outs!!!
your bla(h)ggers [heart] you & are happy to have you back!!!
hooray for Kina vids!!! (you busy person, you!)
December 9, 2008
nice vid kina, it’s a shame you aren’t doing one of your SoCal shows this week. I’m down in San Diego for some training and I’d hop over to check it out if you had a show. Maybe you’ll play back in the SF Bay Area sometime. Have a good Holiday Season and give my best to your family!

December 9, 2008
Wow, I got the first comment! I feel like… like I´ve reached another level of Kinative consciousness!
*I HAVE THE POWER!!!*
December 9, 2008
thanks for sending out my cd’s. i can’t wait to listen to them.
December 9, 2008
Wow, I kinda feel better about having purchased all of your merchandise at your various shows I’ve been to, because that is A LOT of packages. Wouldn’t want to add to that big workload.
Random story: so I was sitting at my desk at work, and I had a notebook with your sticker affixed to it. A coworker comes up and says “hey! Does that stand for Kevin Garnett?!?!”
“No, its actually Kina Grannis”
“Hmmm, that name sounds familiar…. hey! Is she the girl with the hands in the heart in that shirt you wear sometimes?”
“Yeah.”
“Cool!”
I then gave her a couple of stickers to direct her to your website, and now she loves your music :). When you’ve got another local show, I’ll make sure to introduce you guys :).
Kevin Garnett. Haha.
December 9, 2008
I need to get in here before there’s like a gagillion (yes, that’s right, a gagillion) replies!
Now that I’m here, I realize I don’t have anything intelligent or funny to say…
Nice Christmas tree!
Oh, and Timmy’s story made me think of this time when I was giving a couple friends of mine a ride to a halloween party. One of them saw the KG sticker on my back windshield and said “KG, like a unit of mass?”
After staring at him for a moment with a mixture of pity, and embarrassment, I shook my head and got into the car.
December 9, 2008
Great video even though there wasn’t another one of your amazing covers. I like your tree…makes me excited to decorate mine this weekend. Hope you have an awesome week.
December 9, 2008
@Katiebean:
This is true story… I´m sorry to admit. The first times I watched Kina´s videos, I was wondering: why does she have the “kilogram” sign in her videos. I was SO ashamed when realization came to me. My only defense is that in my country, kg is kilogram, and it didn´t cross my mind that it could mean anything else.
But rarely have I felt so stupid… almost as stupid as I feel now, because I´m admitting my mistake… so Katiebean, feel free to stare at my comment with a mixture of pity and embarrassment.
December 9, 2008
wait…so does that mean you can’t play any songs in your videos until your album is released?
December 9, 2008
Also jumping in pre-gagillion, haha.
Yay! I’m really gonna try to make the NY show.
Hope everything is smooth from here on out.
December 9, 2008
@-g-: nono, i’ll be playing more songs once i’m a little less crazy. i just can’t play you the album :)
December 9, 2008
great news Kina, good luck on the shows :) I’m sure they’ll go great
December 9, 2008
@kina: oh, i get it. you kinda scared me there. a week without a kina song was pretty tough; a couple of months without one would be terrible.
December 9, 2008
@-g-: you can always listen to me do an awful cover of one of her songs, but I doubt that will be sattisfactory for you :P
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: Haha, well yours was an understandable mistake!
My friend however had no such excuse. Especially since the sticker says “kinagrannis.com” and “myspace.com/kinagrannis”.
Plus he was just trying to seem like a cool A.P. Chem student!
December 9, 2008
aw did you really call it the teeny tiny tour?… like teeny bear goes sailing at the lake? thats so awesomee!!
so no show in boston hm? well ill just hafto begg my parents to allow me to take bolt to nyc and hope i don’t get lost ;)

December 9, 2008
*sorry for the double post*
erm.. so i offer pastries in exchange for some of your 70º’s.. just some–like 15? its soo cold here =( it was 16ºF yesterday at school… without windchill factor!!
December 9, 2008
@kina:
Woooohooooo!! Okay, so I was thinking the presidential inauguration was going to be the event of the year in DC. Sorry BO, KG’s a comin’ to town!!
Thanks so much for the blog and the mini tour of KinaLand!! (I think my merch was on that pile!! thx) We are soooooo looking forward to the teeny tiny tour!! Count on us being there!!
Oh, thanks for the shout outs, too!!! Means so much to me . . . .
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: you always did have the power my man ;)
to previous post bla(h)ggers, it was return of the ducks this morning! 2 in the pond, a couple more waiting for their turns, I had to run out to scare m off (poor fish).
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: BO might have to reschedule after hearing this..
December 9, 2008
WHAT! you’re finally coming to the east!!!!!! yay! i can’t believe it!!! i get another chance to meet Kina. (i’m still bummed i missed you in SF) but, now i’m feeling a little better. i’ll be seeing you in DC. whohooooo!
December 9, 2008
teeny tiny tour, that’s cute. Would the abbreviated version be KG3T ?
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
To the contrary–no way BO could follow Kina’s act!! His only chance of getting a little attention is to go first!!! hehehehe
j/k we’re supposed to get 1.5 million ppl in town for BO!!
Okay, bla(h)ggers!!! We like breaking records, right?? We need to hit 1,500,001 FTW!!!!
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: 1.5 million is a walk in the park for Kina, I’d personally be instulted if there were fewer people to see Kina than there were to see BO. Who does the guy think he is… sheesh
Okay, I have to ask so I can stop thinking about it, what does “FTW” mean?
Or am I really silly for asking that :-|
December 9, 2008
FTW – For The Win
December 9, 2008
g3mini:
When you saw Kina in those socks… did you get any ideas for another t-shirt design? *wink*
December 9, 2008
@Geddy:
For a while, I confused FTW with WTF, and thought it was just a spelling mistake… then I realized that the same mistake was used similarly in several places, and took time to find out if it actually was something different… which it of course was.. ;)
Why am I trying to make myself look so stupid today?
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: so I will feel less stupid, you are too kind dear sir :)
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan:
It does have other meanings like F The World and such.
There are toooooo many acronyms to keep track of so
you don’t look stupid when you ask.
December 9, 2008
And a third comment in a row…
About Kina´s name. Many of you have probably heard that Kina means China in Swedish and some other European languages. Some of you might know that the currency unit of Papua New Guinea is Kina.
But did anyone know that Kina is a Finnish word also, meaning… “a quarrel”, of all words! So the first thought her name brough to me was, of course, guarreling grannies” ;)
Emi is also a Finnish word (pistil). Misa, however, doesn´t mean anything in Finnish. Sorry, Misa :(
December 9, 2008
@Misa: we can however, make up some meaning for you if you so please
December 9, 2008
@kina: Will you be releasing the songs that don’t make the cut on your website or are you going save those for the next album? ;)
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
Maybe it´s better this way. Kina and Emi have to share their names with the Chinese and recording companies, but there is only ONE Misa.
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: let us hope that this is enough for her to finally be recognized, it is her dream.
December 9, 2008
@avweije: poor fish is right! i can just imagine what’s going on in their little heads… “OH NO! DUCKK BUTTS!!!” lol…
@FinnFan: haha… actually, no! too early in the morning. my brain was slowly winding down. but what did you have in mind & i can work on something…
GOOD MORNING TO YOU ALL!!!!
(how awesome was it to wake up to a vid from the Maestra?!)
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: All I know is that Misa means “mass” in spanish and “bowl” in some other language. Woohoo! But yes, I like having a unique name. (though you can find more of me in Japan.)
December 9, 2008
@g3mini:
I just thought… the guitar girl figure with unmatching socks could be really cool :)
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: i’ll try and work on something…
December 9, 2008
Misa… is that short for either Misaki or Misao or
perhaps Misako?
December 9, 2008
@Misa:
Ok, so “People of China brough a bowl of flowers with pistils into a mass” could be translated: “Kina people brought Misa of flowers with Emi into Misa”?
December 9, 2008
@g3mini: they must’ve been terrified! I was very pleased to see that 1 of them poppup up seconds after I scared off the ducks, so at least one of them is a toughy!
oh, and GOOD MORNING TO YOU :P
December 9, 2008
wahoo! kina i’m so glad you’re coming to dc!!! :)
December 9, 2008
@g3mini:
Fish conversations. You are too funny!! :-D
Duck conversation: WTH, something just bit my butt.
@FinnFan (WTH = what the heck – with due respect to the good ppl here)
December 9, 2008
@Misa:
Many ppl named Misa, only one you!! <3’s from us all!!
December 9, 2008
@g3mini:
Comic strip idea:
“Ducks in the Pond” (expression for something that’s easy–a given)
conversations with avweije’s ducks and fish. You can blog it!!
recurring roles -
the shoo-er (avweije) as in fish: “wth is the shoo-er?” & ducks: “yikes”
guitar girl as the pied piper of ducks
December 9, 2008
Haha yay for the roommate named Natalie :)
Lovely vid…there’s nothing like a good kina grannis vid to brighten your day!
have a wonderful week!
<3
p.s. – 70 degrees is t-shirt weather! LOL but definately wish i was there :)
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: haha you’re awesome!
@thuff7: (from the last blog) My night was good, that is until I fell asleep on the keyboard(that’s why I didn’t reply:S) lol silly me. How are you today?!
@newb: (from last blog as well) I don’t know actually. I think I will go to Vancouver in 2010!! You could be like our tour guide!
December 9, 2008
Thanks for the tour Kina! I hope I can make it out to NY *x’s fingers* it’d be so much fun!
“plus i start to feel really sick when i spend money.” haha that’s so true. Anyway, have a lovely week!
December 9, 2008
@maryannee:
hehehe. I am picturing a pattern of little square indentations on your forehead!!!
As for newbster as a tour guide, I would follow him anywhere–as long as m.a. is 1st ahead of me!! ;-D
December 9, 2008
Wow, only double digit blog comments… a totally doable amount of reading :)
December 9, 2008
Hi Kina, it was cool seeing KG headquarters. It always seems like you have so much to do. We appreciate all your efforts!
Yay for the T3′09 winter tour! If I can make it to the East Coast I will be there, otherwise, hopefully, I can catch one of your performances here on the west before then. Have you given any thought to a Street Team meet and greet in Southern Cal?
You are lucky it is still gets up to 70 where you are. Overhere we are getting 60 for a high and it hit around 32/33 last night. Paco and Myla are getting cold, I will need to break out the space heater sooner rather than later it seems.
December 9, 2008
@Mama G: hahaha… FOR NOW!! g’morning to you!
December 9, 2008
ack, hate being on the east coast. we get your monday upates on tuesday! haha
keep at at kina!
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: darn it! I didn’t think anyone would notice! hehe
Oh great, I’m first huh. thanks. There are so many things that could go wrong lol. But I suppose I’d feel a bit more safe like that, it’s like having 2 bodyguards!
December 9, 2008
@binh: hey now, it’s not so bad! You get to wake up to her vids and at least she is gracing us with her presence in February!!
December 9, 2008
good morning maryannee, can we start calling you qwerty-head now? :P
December 9, 2008
ahhh kina! you’re going to philly?! no fair :( good things only happen there after i leave! but maybe i can make it up to DC…5 hour ride? hmm
December 9, 2008
@all – maybe this is for the forum, but I’ll double post (what rules???)
Cool story (well as cool as I can possibly be):
I tim-tammed a colleague at work (tim-tamming v. the random, anonymous placement of a pack of tim-tams with “gift from kg.com” ad on top).
She’s from Australia. Well, eventually, she followed the trail of tim-tam crumbs back to my office. Now she is a kina fan. and she told 3 fans and they told 3 fans . . .
Okay, cool part. Her friend tammy married tim. Yup, they go by tim-tam. Confirmed fact: it is the national cookie of Austrailia and if you live in Gainesville, Virginia, you better beat her to Target!
December 9, 2008
@avweije: gooood morning. And umm…. sure thing! If it’s easier than maryannee or m.a. ;)
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: very cool thuff, way to go for the kination team!
December 9, 2008
how does the kination team feel about streaker actions? preferably carrying a KG tattoo somewhere on the body?
too much.. hmm
December 9, 2008
It’s so exciting that your album is finally (almost) finished. I wish I could come to your teeny tour, but I can’t :(.
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: wow that’s cool. And the Tim marrying Tam is kind of funny hehe..
December 9, 2008
@thuff7:
Hehe.
They are trying to make Oreos more popular in the UK and get people into that that whole milk thing. Not sure how successful they are being. I’ve certainly never bought a packet. Though I seem to have mostly given up biscuits since I left home and went to University ‘n’ years ago so I may just be an outlier in the sample set.
December 9, 2008
@maryannee:
Yup, we’ll have your back covered. Just don’t get too far ahead of us hiking up the trail!! I’m a flatlander and will need a little altitude adjustment!! (It’s all in your altitude.)
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: oh my gosh. you are awesome.
December 9, 2008
@kina:
only cuz ur
December 9, 2008
@kina: as a reward for being so awesome he should deserve to know the tracks that are on the new album right?
pushing it? darned..
December 9, 2008
Sweet! You know, with my luck, something is gonna come up when you’re in NY. Looks like I’ll have to take a trip somewhere else if so! Excitement.
Oops, I still have to upload the video from the last time you were here, don’t I?
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
hehehe – that would give me The Power . . .
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: ofcourse I would trust you to keep them to yourself
(I can offer a wide variety of cakes, desserts or dutch treats)
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: haha don’t worry, newbs and I will be ready with a resuscitator ;) newbs to the rescue!
December 9, 2008
woop woop. PHILLY!!! I’ll be there whenever you announce your venue!!!!
December 9, 2008
hey guys! =]
yea kina vid!!! =] haha it was awesome i have to order some of those shirts! =] i’m super excited about your album!!!! =] excited about the mini tour too! too bad it’s way to far for me =[ i would have to spend lots of money to go haha and i’m working 2 jobs!!! so yea it’ll be hard to take that trip!
lol hey thuff7 how you been??
December 9, 2008
Soooooooo excited you are coming to St. Lou!!!! Nobody ever comes here! (slight exaggeration!) I’ll be there even if it kills me!
December 9, 2008
@maryannee: i’m in florida….her closest show would still be a thousand miles away :(
December 9, 2008
@Geddy: Nope, just Misa :)
@FinnFan: tee hee :)
December 9, 2008
@Kina- you should make a teeny tiny tour t-shirt :-p
-k
December 9, 2008
I’m so happy you are playing in D.C!
I can’t wait to find out where!
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: lol btw, how did your meeting with the dean go?
@binh: oh :(…. that’s sad… But I’m sure when she gets more well known she’ll head down to florida :D!
December 9, 2008
it’s mean, there should be a teeny tiny european tour :P
December 9, 2008
Yay D.C.!
December 9, 2008
@AP
thanks so much for the shoutout! i truly appreciate it! what a great way to start the morning!!
@kina
thank you for posting it. kinda embarassed for ya…all your youtube fans are probably wondering ‘what’s a confused newbie?’…haha…you’re awesome! and real!
good afternoon all!
December 9, 2008
YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CANT WAIT FOR THE SHOW!
December 9, 2008
Hmmm, did you notice the Two Weeks For Kina (Blog Archive) on the sidebar? ;) I was always wondering when i made my first post over there. I will investigate this soon… :)
December 9, 2008
@maryannee:
Had a big political screed for posting,
but this isn’t the place . . .
Teeny tiny screed:
Bad news – university is getting massive budget cuts = higher tuition, faculty layoffs, less teachers per student
Good news – I won’t be on the cut list
Bad news – my students didn’t do anything to deserve this
Unrelated and random good news – for my high school student mentees (ppl whom I mentor). Their high school just got US News & World Report #1 High School in US, 2nd year in a row.
Thomas Jefferson School of Science and Technolog, Alexandria, Virginia
Yay!! TJ!!!!
Oh, and they have a bunch of Kina fans!!
December 9, 2008
@avweije: nice try… :)
December 9, 2008
@thuff7:
Sorry to hear about the bad news, this is the situation we all are in now. I´ve stopped watching the news on tv, because they are so depressing… that´s also one of the reasons I´m so eager to see Kina succeed – I need to see that good and talented people still have hope to get recognition in this world… Oh no, now I got way too deep…
December 9, 2008
@confused newbie:
Ditto. AP for mayor!!!! (Not sure where he lives, but they should vote for him anyway. They’d all be well fed!!)
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan:
Naw, not too deep. I think these sentiments have been expressed in many ways by many people here. So I second that emotion. (Sorry my response to maryannee was such a buzz kill . . . )
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: Oh no, not more layoffs :( and higher tuition :((. Well it’s a good thing you’re still there:). Ha! good job on the high school!
December 9, 2008
@Misa:
Are you SURE you weren’t named after the Jar Jar Binks vernacular?… Albeit, retroactively.
Maybe your parents had an early copy of the script.
OR maybe it was to be “Miso”, as your mom was craving soup… mmmmm, soup… but the nurse wrote it down wrong. That actually happened to a friend of mine, who has gone his entire life as “Grabiel”, because of a dyslexic nurse.
December 9, 2008
hi all its windy in LA stupid santa ana winds AHHH!
December 9, 2008
@ kina are you going to play the new song ur dad mentioned over the weekend???
December 9, 2008
@Mama G: close but no cookie huh ;)
@wwar1ace: I am not sure that is gonna fall well with Misa, I have known her only shortly, but I am thinking any linkage of her and the likes of Jar Jar Binks would be a no-no, then again, I could be hugely mistaken :P
It made me giggle though, so thanks for that ;)
December 9, 2008
@maryannee:
Thanks! I can’t claim any credit for the TJ students. They earned it all themselves. I have mentored 4 of them by having them take part in my research and teaching them science skills. But they are so quick to learn, it is amazing. So refreshing to work with them!!
December 9, 2008
@avweije: If it means anything to you, I was behind you all the way on that one!!!
@Alexpham: Thanks so much for the stealthy shout out!!! ur awesome dude!!
December 9, 2008
@-g-: true true on a month would probably put us in a menyal institute lol
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: no problem hahaha! all was fun so did you gt ur street team stuff???
December 9, 2008
Just so you won’t be standing next to your mailboxes…. the ST stuff has not, I repeat, NOT gone out. I’ll let you know when we get it together. Sorry :( I swear it’s coming!!!!
December 9, 2008
@Misa:
misa have you gotten any snow yet in the city?
it snowed today during school– i was soo excited haha
December 9, 2008
@mama g: No rush Mama G. It’s not going to hold us back! Take your time. You XgXuXyXsX Granni do too much for us already!!
/raps his own knuckles for improper gender usage.
/ouch.
December 9, 2008
@mama g: k thx mama well i dont have to stand in the windy and rainy days of the nxt 3 weeks here in the valley lol o did u here about the f18 plane crash? scary yet sad =(
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: so update on the boys???
December 9, 2008
@ kina is there slim chance of a show in LA?
December 9, 2008
@Alexpham: Thanks, all normal. Nathan is off to Karate, Alex is writing a new song on the drums. /ears ringing
It’s like it never happened!! Good thing about kids, they don’t know they’re supposed to act sick!!
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: hahaha! true well off to do hw wow im 100 hundred again! WAT!!!! scary heehee oh i brought tim tams to skool nd they were gone in like a minute everyone loved them lol!
December 9, 2008
@Alexpham: i see a pattern with you and 100th post! lol… thanks for the shout-out!! you’re too awesome!
it’s too cold for my liking here in vegas.
-beach
-sun
-sand
-warm water
i miss home :(
hmm… someone mentioned a teeny tiny tour tee (say that 5 times fast – lol)… sounds good! ideas……??
December 9, 2008
you guys are making me jealous with all these tim tams and kina concerts :P
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: Light winds have the Atlantic Flyway abuzz with Canada geese! (thanks m.a.). It’s the main migratory route for the eastern half of North America. I saw some gaggles with 100+ geese in their big v’s!! So cool.
December 9, 2008
@g3mini: u2 g3mini for sponsoring the shout out to all of us here. Yay you!!! See, I told you ppl she’s the best!!!
oh, yeah. your comic strips, of course. guitar girl with liberty bell, washington monument, statue of liberty, gateway arch.
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
We should form our own club and speak about something European, like… hmmm… McDonald´s hamburgers..???
December 9, 2008
@kina can i get your mech in person??? well want me to drive to LA or you to the valley? lol well bye for now idk when i shall be on so yea…=) have a great tuesday nite yall!!!!!
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: yes that would work, we also have KFC here, I’m sure they don’t know that either. and we speak english with an accent, so we’re way cooler anyway.
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: EuroDisney!
December 9, 2008
@thuff7:
We are also on a migratory route for a lot of geese from Russian tundra, but their time was months ago… although, there´s still three barnacle geese staying in Helsinki, but they are insane to be in this cold.
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: no worries… great friends & great conversations – Kination deserved a shout out!!!!
my day is open… so i think i’ll work on some designs….
December 9, 2008
AVWEIJE – did you ever take a pic of yourself pretending to snatch that CD… photoshop fun to do what you requested in the last blog!!! LOL
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: lol, good one
December 9, 2008
@g3mini: I have not, but I just made a note to do it tomorrow (evening now, better with daylight).
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: They forgot their Russian-Finnish dictionary!! We’re on the northern edge of their wintering grounds. So they come late. When I lived in NJ, we got 15k+ snow geese at once. Most amazing thing in the world–seeing them all take off at once when an eagle dives at them!
December 9, 2008
@avweije: whenever you have it… no rush!!!
December 9, 2008
@thuff7:
Oh yes, one of the greatest accomplishments of European civilization! I have to admit, I´ve never been there. I did, however, visit Disney World when I was in Tokyo… It was such a bizarre idea that I couldn´t resist.. all that ancient culture to explore – only a grazy person would go to Disney World :)

@thuff7:
Ok, now you got me… Snow geese, big rarities in Finland, I would give someone else´s right arm to get them in front of my camera… (if I gave my own arm, I couldn´t take the photos, could I?)
December 9, 2008
we have the roman empire, discovering america, and eurodisney, sounds good, yes.
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: Thomas Jefferson…as in the #1 high school in the country as of that 2008 published report thingy.
I go to the #57 one. :D
How is the music program at Tj? Is it a Grammy Foundation school? I don’t think so! xD
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
And if everything else fails, we can turn to the heavy artillery as far as topics are concerned: the Finnish sauna.
December 9, 2008
we will blow them away with our wooden shoes and windmills, beat that tim tam!
December 9, 2008
@avweije: LOL…. bet you still want a Tim Tam!!!! hahaha… i have 4 packs still. want some??? mwahahaha… i tease!
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: Well, I’m a bit crazy. (a chorus of “duh’s” in the background) I do love Florida DisneyWorld with Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Awesome restaurants, too. But it’s much more in context here than in Europe. Still a little kid at heart!!
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
Yeah, some of our food even tastes like wooden shoes!
December 9, 2008
@g3mini: grrrrr
@FinnFan: lol, shhh, you’ll blow our cover
December 9, 2008
@Starky: hahaha!! Point well taken. I’m not affiliated other than working with some of their students at GMU. In defense, it is a magnet school for science and tech, so people opt for that over their own local HS. So anyone wanting to go there for music needs some guidance!! But your top 100 is awesome and if it spins out grammy ppl, call yourself blessed cuz so many other HS’s cut back severely on the arts . . . So here I go on another screed. I think my quota is up.
December 9, 2008
lol…….
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: Yeah, it must be a really nice feeling to see your students grow so quickly:). And I don’t own any geese but you’re welcome lol I could watch them fly by all day(as long as they don’t poop on me).
@g3m: thanks for the kination shout out!!
December 9, 2008
we had a great commercial here once, an american is visiting a dutch family, they go site-seeing and everywhere they go the american guy says “oh in america we have … ”
then they come back home, they make hamburgers for dinner (this is what the commercial is for), he tastes them, goes quiet and then says: “in america our plates are much bigger”
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: LOL! are you serious??!
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
Sorry, got carried away… I must go to sleep now, before I confess to everyone I´m DYING to know what Tim Tams taste like. That would be a serious mistake.
December 9, 2008
@FinnFan: I will deny that for as long as I possibly can, g3mini might be on to me though.
December 9, 2008
@maryannee: you’re welcome!!!
December 9, 2008
@avweije: Love it!
December 9, 2008
@ Kina: I’m saddened that I won’t be able to see you in NY because I’m actually going there ON a music trip from April 23 to the 27th and we do get one night off where we can choose to do what we want…I think it was the 25th…I was hoping that you’d be there by some chance… but I guess not :(
oh well I hope all the people who do get to see you have fun and I hope that you have fun while you’re there!!!
PS you’re amazing :D
December 9, 2008
@g3mini: No problemo! How is Las Vegas at this hour??
December 9, 2008
I live in Toronto Canada which is why i wouldn’t be able to go see Kina and why i was hoping she’d be in NY the same time I was.
Just in case anyone was wondering :P
December 9, 2008
@avweije: lol… you know i’m on to you! yummy yummy tim tams!!!!! :)
December 9, 2008

(and better too i might add) anyways keep chicago in the back of ur mind wed love to see you! glad to hear the album is almost done its all happening!
December 9, 2008
@Kim H: :O!!!! Another Torontonian!!! We could like car pool it down to NY!! lol I don’t know if I’m allowed just yet. And how do you like this wet snow?!
December 9, 2008
*leaves in a huff*
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
Don’t leave in a huff. Leave in a minute and a huff.
j/k
December 9, 2008
@maryannee: vegas… is, well, vegas. cold for me, but i’m sure it’s a lot colder where you are!! how is your day??
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: it’s the tim tams, they are calling my name, they are haunting my dreams
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: heehee.
@g3mini: Dress warmly!! My day was nice. Put the finishing touches on decorating the house :). It snow quite a bit in the morning but then it rained :/. Though now it’s perfect for throwing snowballs!!
December 9, 2008
@avweije: I had a job babysitting a 10 and 11 year old right around the time that Episode 1 came out, and Every.Single.Day. for WEEEEKS I heard “Meesa jar jar binks!” for hours on end. It was not fun. Also, depending on the level of intoxication of the person I’m talking to, other popular responses to learning my name are “Me so horny,” “miso soup” and “Lisa?” The receptionist at my dentist here calls me Marissa even after staring at my chart for weeks.
@evann: Not sure, since the first snow of the season I saw was in VA. For some reason the weather in VA seems to be similar to that in NY, so maybe there was some snow up there too. I’ll let you know if I see any when I get back up there. :)
December 9, 2008
@kina
Is that a stereogram poster in your living room? Cool…
@Misa
If it’s any consolation, I LIKE miso soup… not so much on the Jar Jar Binks, though. Ever watch “A Lost Hope” online? A personal favorite is watching JJB meet his end.
December 9, 2008
@avweije: Well, try very hard not to click on this link: http://www.ilovetimtamcookies.com/index.html
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: haha awh man, that’s mean! lol ;)
December 9, 2008
@maryannee: hmmmmm, i thought that was an iPod in your hand. everybody duck!!!
December 9, 2008
@Misa: LOL, I know it is not funny to you anymore, but it is comical to read :P still going here @ intoxication, lol, I can just see it happening..
I’ve had my fun with my name, there was a famous duo here in holland, a clown and an acrobat, they did tv shows and every kid knew them. I have the same name as the acrobat, so when they hear it it’s either “oh Adriaan the Acrobat” or in the clowns voice “oohh Adriaantje” or they would just start singing “Bassie en Adriaan, Bassie en Adriaan”, grown ups are more embarressed about public singing so it doesn’t happen often anymore.
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: haha don’t worry, I’m right handed so it’s most likely I’ll miss
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: haha… your teasing is worse… LOL!!!
see avweije, i’m not bad!!!
December 9, 2008
@thuff7: I tried really really hard for about 1.3 seconds, then I clicked it, looks yumm, are they soft on the inside?
I might be able to get something that looks like it, just to stop the voices in my head.
December 9, 2008
@g3mini: you are, thuff is just worse :P
December 9, 2008
@kina :O you can upload vids to the timtam page!! they clearly need a spokesperson and advocate . . .
December 9, 2008
@Misa: i’ve got a not so common name too & people just can’t seem to get it right. always calling me Sheri or Sharon or Sheina… no no no…!!! no matter how many times you tell them!!!!!
T-shirt:
It’s (insert your name & the pronunciation here).
Get it right!!!
LOL.
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
As the late-great George Carlin said, “That’s what I’m here for… to think up the weird $#!% and report back to you!”… or something to that effect.
And as always…
May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house.
December 9, 2008
@avweije: awww. i just couldn’t resist!!
so get a piece of chocolate, a chocolate cookie and a piece of caramel. shove them all in your mouth at once. close enough!! If you can manage a sip of coffee, hot chocolate, tea or whatnot at the same time, your doin’ the Dutch slam. hehehehe
December 9, 2008
@Misa: When I was a kid, teachers would butcher my name with Yohand (silent d) and the entire class would yell out the correct pronunciation. Of course, a million nicknames have been created over the years.
December 9, 2008
@wwar1ace: lol, never heard of the guy, sounds like fun though
@thuff7: lol, it sounds exciting, the slam, have a large coffee and a pack of tim tams and its a grand slam?
December 9, 2008
@avweije:
a pack? 2 = 190 calories.
@Yohan:
did the grannis family adopt you yet?
December 9, 2008
@avweije: a grand slam is a breakfast entree @ Denny’s restaurant! eggs & stuff…
December 9, 2008
wow: http://www.ilovetimtamcookies.com/Discover.aspx
look at the heart in the coffee cup, it’s almost like message from your heart was meant for a commercial for tim tams!
December 9, 2008
@avweije: haha clearly kina HAS to be the spokesperson now!
December 9, 2008
@confused newbie: hey newbs!!!! how are you this cold day??
December 9, 2008
@Misa:
it snowed while at i was at work sunday.. it snowed all day!!

erm.. the commonalities between the causes of the french and american rev’s, the kinds of methods of government formation systems, and common government systems..
except we hafta use our lecture notes and tell the teacher something from the lecture notes that he didn’t say if that makes sense.. we hafto make conclusions from in depth details as to commonalities that our teacher doesn’t know/never thought of.. idk its wierd and i hate it.. its not that its a long paper or ne thing, its just that its hard to know exactly what so write about.. alot of second guessing goes on ;)
December 9, 2008
WOW.. 225 already..

Wow, I am not doing bad at all @ guitaring, posted a new vid yesterday where I am practicing a little bit of dust in the wind, I make some mistakes, but it sounds quite allright.
Just gone through some other “beginners” that are trying the dust in the wind bit. Made me smile at my own accomplishment :)
(not gonna watch pro vids today, try to hold on to this feeling for a bit longer :P)
PS
Okay so I did listen to another and this guy does the whole thing… grrrr, back to the drawing board :P
December 10, 2008

December 10, 2008
@avweije:
Hey, bro! How’s Holland today? any plans? See your quackers again or did you really put the fear into them??
It’s rainy here, but warmish for December. So quite manageable, except it is dreary looking. And I have a ton of leaves to rake. One of our trees just holds onto its leaves forever until you rake. Then it dumps them. So after the yard shapes up a bit, I need to hang some ornaments so we don’t look like the Grinch house on the block.
Well, much to do today!! Will check in bla(h)g from time to time.
Wish everyone in Kination and beyond a great day!!
December 10, 2008
@FinnFan: Ooo. I lost track of this post. Never had a chance to reply.
The Brigantine Wildlife Refuge sits outside Atlantic City where I did my undergrad in environmental science. Atlantic City and the whole NJ coast sits on barrier islands–long, narrow sandy islands that stretch the entire coast. Great sandy beaches on the ocean side. Behind them are bays. The western side of the bay is often called the inland coast. It has brackish (low salinity) water from the mixing of river water and tidal ocean water. It’s coves and salt marshes make perfect resting sites for migratory waterfowl. Salt marshes are second to coral reefs in biomass productivity. So they teem with life–aquatic plants, mussels, clams, crabs, etc. The snow geese come and rest for a brief period each fall and again in the spring. It’s about 4 1/2 hours of driving for us now, but while living there, seeing the snow geese was like seeing the pyramids or the Parthenon to me!! Well, there. Ecology 101 on KG.com.
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: lol, morning bro, holland is good, I am good, the weather is rainy.
The ducks have no fear it seems, they keep coming back now, seen them at least 3 times today. I almost went out in my socks this morning chasing them :P
I will need to add some sort of netting over the pond for awhile, next time I am not home and they come for a dip it might really be the end for my fish.
The leaves is a familiar story, don’t have a pesky tree here, but I have an open section at the front which just lets all the leaves from the entire street in. I had just cleaned all the leaves from the garden, and 2 or 3 days later I could barely walk onto my own path cause of the pile of leaves.
As for the decoration, I still need a xmas tree for inside, but the one outside is already decorated!
December 10, 2008
@wwar1ace:
Yes. RIP George Carlin. :’-(
I am sure he’s got a crowd of angels laughing their wings off right about now!!
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: working on a surprise xmas video at the moment, I can’t say too much at the moment, but it’s gonna be gooohoohoohoood.

I know this is a long shot, don’t really know if ull c this message, but its worth a try.

December 10, 2008
Good afternoon to everyone here!!!
December 10, 2008
good afternoon gigi :)
@All:
I’m going to upload a new video in a minute or two, it is a christmas song for the bla(h)ggers out here.
After many (read: 2) requests for me to sing in my video’s, I decided to go for an easy xmas song, where I can sing while playing at the same time.
The song might sound familiar, but I tweaked it to make it work for the bla(h)ggers, hope you enjoy (click my name for my youtube page, then go to christmas song).
Apologies to anyone that didn’t get mentioned in the song or the shoutouts, you were in my heart & mind while I was doing the song.

@avweije:
Hey!! I finally had a chance to see you on your YouTube Channel!!! Wahoooo!! Pretty good start for Dust in the Wind. Great!!
First, what foreign accent were you talking about last night?? Sheesh, folks in Virginia have *real* accents, and I can’t understand half of what they drawl and mutter.
I hate to do this cuz it may give hints to my chronological age (as opposed to social/developmenta/ijust plain mental age) that I don’t necessarily want to since I may get the big Kination boot out the door.
But I did see Kansas perform this song live at their prime. It was in small converted movie theater in Jersey City, NJ. Kansas brought a stadium-sized PA system into this mini venue, and I haven’t been able to hear the letter D ever since. All I hear is “ust in the win” hehehehe Really odd, cuz they didn’t play loud music, they just played music loudly.
December 10, 2008
have fun!

December 10, 2008
@avweije:
Oh, and this: you *do* know that 2 is much less than 50,000, right???
You’ve only reached 1/25,000th of your goal and you’re already caving!!
And my e-mail keeps getting returned as “unknown address.” Is there a Dutch translation to that address that I need to use??? ;-D (keep it PG heheheh)
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: lol, sounds like a nice experience though :) have been to a few concerts/festivals so far and always enjoyed it.
if you are talking about my accent, I don’t really have one I think, people often have difficulty hearing what country I am from, they are pretty sure I am not english or american, where as when I hear a dutch person speak english, I usually know they are dutch.
I may have mentioned it before, but my mom is english, half my family is in england, the other in australia, some in holland.
ust in the wind, yes quite happy with the progress, its a nice one to practice picking with multiple fingers (guitar, not nose), once I have the full version I will put it up.
the xmas vid is not up yet, takes some time for youtube to accept it, guess they scan it for improper content or such.
December 10, 2008
Wow, I’ve been gone for a really long time.
Hi everyone!
Hi Kina! I can’t wait for your new album!
jRo
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: lol, you are sharp today! you are right, I have caved too quickly, now I have to change my challenge..
2 request, but no subscribers yet, and I want 50k subscribers. I might have to offer something like playing the guitar, while standing on my head, drinking beer from a straw (all the while singing kumbaya).
December 10, 2008
Kina!
It has been a while! I just thought i would emerge from “lurk-dom” and say hi! Wow! I cant believe how large you blog has grown to! Its amazing thinking about when back in the crashthesuperbowl times there were only a select few and now there’s well.. a bunch! I’m glad that you are getting more exposure and having fun recording! I will have to catch up and watch about a years worth of your videos to see whats been going on.. I have just been crazy busy of course.. Well I’ll c ya!

December 10, 2008
hello bye studying for physics =)
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham:
physics is phun — as they say . . .
what section ru you doing? linear motion, angular motion, flow, diffusion, magnetism, thermodynamics, electronics, astrobiology (a favorite, except for the field trips) ????
December 10, 2008
@ anyone What is the best selling cd of kina’s 3?
Question of the night: What was your first job in your teenage years?
mine was at a hospital filing and sorting mail at $8.50 an hour then i volunteered. =)
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: we are on gravitaional orbit of the moons and planets with Kepler’s law, torque, and Centripital forces.
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham:
t=Fd
December 10, 2008
No hahaha it’s T=Fd(sin theta ) =)
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: well how far did you go for physics?
December 10, 2008
@avweije: No on Kumbaya, yes on Heart and Mind.
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: by the way no trips anywhere sadface =( but my teacher is an engineer so he shows us kool vids. and stuff! it is so fun! heehee (such a NERD) oh House was so beautiful last night that was funny when he tried to be nice hahaha! virgirnal birth lol!
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham: 3rd semester university (that’s physics with calculus). I got lucky and someone had a seizure during the final. Not funny for him, but he was okay in the end. But I tended to him while he was seizing, and was “so traumatized, I couldn’t continue the final”. Never told the prof I had already gone as far as I could. Well. Okay, selfish me. Sorry. :( I never used that class for any degree, though, so no harm no foul.)
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham: and @thuff7: yes yes! House was soooo lovely and christmas..y! I laughed so much with the asthma lady and the virgin birth couple haha! Is it possible for people to be that…. silly? lol I’m happy for Cuddy too!!
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham: Hahahaha!!!! Was waiting for Maryannee to talk about it. House was soooo funny with the clinic patients. I loved the lady with the albuterol inhaler!! Virgin pregnancy. . . duh. So funny. Hugh Laurie is a comedic genius. I am bummed cause I dozed off before Conan O’Brien and missed him on it. Did I hear SNL this weekend???
December 10, 2008
@maryannee: Hey!!! that is too funny. Mention your name and here you are!!!!!! Wow. I didn’t know I could do that. hmmmmmmm. Let’s wait to Kina shows up to talk about it.
tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic
hmmmmmmmm….
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: i can’t wait for SNL this weekend always loved it hahaha!
@maryannee: it’s a theory not proven yet/
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: haha great timing! Ok then, does Kina watch House or did I miss something? Oh man I can’t stop thinking about the asthma lady hahaha! too funny.
December 10, 2008
@Kina Where are you!!!! =)
December 10, 2008
@maryannee: I don’t know if she does, but I figured if I could conjure up you so easily, I might as well have a crack at getting Kina in the conversation, too. . . . doubt I’d waste the opportunity on talking about House, but . . .
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham: hahaha….tic toc tic toc. ;)
December 10, 2008
@maryannee: Yes, good for Cuddy. Sad how it happened. But, what do you think will happen next????
Oh, and it was Wilson’s turn to own the team!!! Story about book with green wrapping paper was a classic!!!!
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: and@maryannee: did you buy a cd yet?
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: Hah true. And yes it was very sad how it happened :(. What do I think will happen next to Cuddy? or the show?
Oh yea! Wilson was great! He looked so sad while telling the story hehe.
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham: Kina cd?? I bought singing bridge from iTunes, but then heard her talk about little notes about a month ago or so if you ordered the discs directly. So I ordered the other two. Time to surprise the boys with Kina tees. Nathan is such a fan, he will wear it to school all the time. He still giggles at the Disturbia monster!!!
December 10, 2008
@maryannee: Well, I was wondering if House will play a role . . . you know, she can get in his face as well as anyone. It could work. Maybe. hmmmmm. well, possibly.
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: i like th part where the guy (forgets name) says sorry to the guy he bullied in high school.
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham: Unfortunately no :( at least not yet. I don’t have paypal so I don’t know how else to get them :T.
Yea, Kutner was cute like that hehe.
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: hey i want to get the cds in person cause im still in LA just another district 30 minutes away from downtown. heehee
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham: Ha, Taub was wrong on that one. Kutner wasn’t bullied. He was the bully. Great to apologize. That stuff can haunt someone a long time. Wonder what he did to the guy??
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: yup i am curious too.
and foreman and 13 shocker!
December 10, 2008
well i am getting sidetracked so bye see everyone tomorrow and newb hi (in advance )haha!\
Oh i just ordered all three cds saving 6 buks and a shirt of the hand heart. =) well to all i bid you an early good night and good morning!
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: Ooh that would be nice to see Cuddy and House… but then would the show be over because I kind of like watching their relationship. Or I don’t know.
@Alexpham: haha yes it was… there was a big ‘Awwww’ at the end ;).
December 10, 2008
@maryannee: send a note to sales(at)kinnagrannis(dot)com. I’m sure she’d take a check/money order upfront and then wait for it to clear before shipping. do not deprive yourself!!!!
I bought “singing bridge” cuz when I was little, we used to cross a drawbridge with a steel grate. It made a humming sound and we called it the “humming bridge”. So I wanted to see if the stories matched. Not really. but still a great song.
December 10, 2008
well din din time. bbl ppl!!!! <3
December 10, 2008
Haha you deserve all those sales. The new album is mine! My favorite numbers will be on there, i guess.. Hope you will make it that far you come to europe once! I will be there in the Netherlands :) A grannis tour or even a youtube tour would be awesome :P
December 10, 2008
Greets… catching up on the reading from the day and going
back and forth between here and woot.com – They are having
a ‘woot off’, a procession of goods that continues until, well,
until it ends. Normally they offer a ‘one day, one deal’ thing, but
a woot off is special. Kinda like getting a new vid every
Monday(ish) special. I can’t really afford to buy anything right
now but waiting for things I can give as presents. It’s fun to
watch anyways.
December 10, 2008
I dunno how my comment got indented so funny but couldn’t
edit it… ????
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: bon apetito
December 10, 2008
it snowed yesterday and was 65º today! gotta love new england ;)
December 10, 2008
yet another double post.. sorryyy!! =(
but omg! david choi is less than 500 subscribers away from smiling!! ahhh lol
December 10, 2008
@avweije: Oh my goodness! Wow, your a fast learner! Your covers are cool! Are you sure you’re a beginner?? ;). I like what you did with boats and birds :).
@evann: eep! soo close!! lol don’t apologize for the double post.
December 10, 2008
ahhh!! It’s snowing in Houston!!! This is the first time I see snow! Ok gotta go back outside and take more pics. :))
December 10, 2008
@lizzyvaz: cool! enjoy, can’t wait for snow here
@maryanne: thank you! :) I am really enjoying it and Kina has been an inspiration to keep at it. the boats and birds goes a lot smoother now, but the vid is still good.
am trying to get some reggae/ska type strumming now, once I get that I’ll be able to do a few more songs I like.
(still waiting for my xmas song to be put live by youtube)
December 10, 2008
@lizzyvaz:
sure! it snows in houston but its 65 here… craziness!! @mothernature its time for winter now!! okay? incase you missed the memo! geeze! ;)
December 10, 2008
@evann: I’ll get right on that, sorry.
December 10, 2008
@avweije: Nice nice. Kina inspires all :). What kind of geetar are you using btw??
December 10, 2008
@maryanne: I have a few, but mostly play the Ibanez, you can play it accoustic or electric so I can practice quietly and then plug it in to scare the neighbours :P
December 10, 2008
I am looking around for a new accoustic guitar, but not in any rush yet. An actual accoustic has a much nicer sound I think, and hearing Kina play her songs made me want to get a good one.
I guess I should forward her the bill huh :P
Ooh! Great Idea! (for me, not sure how Kina feels)
We should do a something where the prize is one of Kina’s guitars, signed!! And then it should be something that I can win, cause I want it! :P ghehe
December 10, 2008
Okay, I need some sleep, nighty night all.
December 10, 2008
@avweije: Maybe you can plug it in and scare the ducks!! hehehehe
December 10, 2008
@avweije: Hey, see you tomorrow.
Have a peaceful night in Holland!!
December 10, 2008
@avweije: Yes actual acoustics definitely sound better.
Haha oh man, I don’t think kina would like to part with one of her babies ;).
Good night! Take care.
December 10, 2008
@maryannee:
HI m.a. How are you tonight?
All quiet here.
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: Heya thuff! I’m fine. Been trying to brush up on my guitar because we’re going to an old folks home on saturday and I’m going to try to play for them hehe. How about you? Any updates on the fam?
December 10, 2008
@Mother Nature:
haha thanks.. so i have a chem test friday.. i’m thininking thursday night is a good time for a blizzard? ;)
December 10, 2008
I appeciate those of you who have the patience and
fortitude to learn an instrument. The acoustic guitar
is far and away my favorite though. Bright singing
strings, please! I bought a guitar a couple years ago,
played a few chords and hung it in the closet. It’s
been quite lonely since. Someday….
December 10, 2008
@maryannee: Aren’t you so kind!! I bet they’ll be delighted!! Give yerself a gold star! Really, that’s great!
Fam’s good, but Alex got a little sick going to bed. Sophie, Nathan and Alex just sort of pushed their dinner around a bit on their plates and all were asleep by 9. I watched Life, but I lost track of the story line. Daydreaming, I guess.
December 10, 2008
Hi, good morning. It´s 6 am but I had to wake up early to see if I had my internet connection back… as you can see, yes I do! I´m alive again!
December 10, 2008
@evann: Hey, Evann. I’m your man. What’s the topic?
@Geddy: Hi Geddy! My roommates had a Les Paul, a Stratocaster and a Telecaster. Plus two sweet Ibanez acoutics. What a great chance to learn, but my fingers are just too spastic. I would go in and make some feedback, but couldn’t pick up the chords. M. So I figure the next best thing is to sit back and listen to good sounds from someone much more qualified!! But any guitar playing just blows me away!!
December 10, 2008
@FinnFan: Welcome to the connected world!! What’s on the agenda today?????
December 10, 2008
@Geddy: hey hey! Brush off the dust from that guitar and get playing again! Cover a kina song and share!! hehe anyway how are you today/tonight?
@thuff7: Heh thanks! Now if only I could sing like kina haha.
Awh man, I hope everyone gets well soon. It definitely get a little gloomy in the house when fam is sick. Daydreaming about… snow?!? or a kina show near you?!
December 10, 2008
@FinnFan: Morning! What ever did you do without internet??! ;)
December 10, 2008
@thuff7:
Need to do a little work today. Boring but it´s good to have some money… and I´ll try to take some scenery photos in a snow rain in a place I noticed yesterday, but it depends on what kind of snow we´ll get today, if it´s too watery, I won´t risk my camera.
Other than that… I might listen to some good music – can anyone recommend a good female singer..?
Speaking of singers – I hope everyone´s listened to David Choi´s “Heart” from a few weeks ago. I´m not always that grazy about his weirder work, but that one is a masterpiece, right there with the best of Kina´s work.
December 10, 2008
@maryannee:
I would think that was obvious: stared at my computer, panicked and tried all kind of magic tricks to get it work.
December 10, 2008
@maryannee: Smile and love what your singing, and you’ll be a lot closer to what Kina does!!!
Daydreaming about a lot of everything including the Kination. Plus I think I lost track of the plot when Alex woke up for a couple minutes and played toes with me. (I always tell him I’m going to eat his toes. All I have to do is look at them and he cracks up!! So he tries to keep me from getting to them!)
Well, busy day tomorrow. Time to turn in before the key taps start to annoy ppl here!!!
@all – ur the very best!! “see” you real soon!!!
December 10, 2008
@maryannee:
good ever-ning maryannee – I am doing well, my belly full from dinner and feeling blessed… bouncing between here and w00t!
I love music soooo much but just get frustratad trying to play
the guitar. :-(
What do you have picked out to play on Sat…?
December 10, 2008
@FinnFan: we all gotta put food on the table and clothes on the back!! Good luck with getting a snow shot. Maybe you’ll see something really cool.
I think there is a singer named Gina Krannis who sings about cardiology or some such thing. hehehe
Enjoy your day.
December 10, 2008
@FinnFan: haha…. *serious face* that’s a traumatizing experience no one should go through ;p.
@thuff7: Good night!!
December 10, 2008
@thuff7:
Wow! You were lucky to have so many cool guitars around
to check out. That’s quite a roll-call. One of my co-workers
is a guitar nut, has 17 of them, some quite valuable.
The first guitar that really sang to me was a Martin (named
Martin too, duh!) that one of my camp counsellors had back
in my youth. Her name was Bernadette, nickname Bun. I had
I schoolboy crush on both her and her guitar.
December 10, 2008
@Geddy: haha be careful. I’m not sure it’s a good thing to be bouncing around after eating :p.
Yeah geetar can be frustrating, but once you learn some music you really enjoying listening to it’s so relaxing! Especially if you aren’t having such a good day it’s something to turn to :).
I’m heading down there with a youth group and they’re singing carols so I’ll probably be playing with them. And IF I have the guts to play and sing on my own I shall definitely play some Kina music! I HAVE to introduce Kina to my youth group hehe.
December 10, 2008
@maryannee:
I’m all over singing along if someone else plays though.
If you had a choice of ANY song that you could pick
to have Kina cover, what would it be?
December 10, 2008
@Geddy: Mm that’s good! So like…. karaoke? haha jks. So if you were to go to a Kina concert you’d be singing along right?? ;).
Hmm good question, there’s so many!!…. well recently I’ve been hooked on this song by Jason Mraz and Tristan Prettyman called “Shy That Way”. It’s soulful and I think this should be the next kina grannis and david choi collab! haha.
Here’s the song, if you haven’t heard of it :).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTjc5Xtz3ho
How about you?
December 10, 2008
@maryannee:
Being from the San Diego area Jason and Tristan are
both faves. Good call for her and David doing it together!
I hadn’t considered a duet.
If’n it was up to me, I’d pick a song by Kate Rusby called
Who Will Sing Me Lullabies. Here’s the vid -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No5FkAmTaJY
Kina could ‘wow’ that one.
December 10, 2008
@Geddy: Oh that’s right! They’re both from SD. Lucky you! So many good musicians in your area (CA).
Wow great choice! Definitely. Kina could blow this one out of the water.
Well I’m off to bed. It was nice talking to you Geddy! Hope to “see” more of you here :) Good night! Take care.
December 10, 2008
G’night… back to the w00t! site, still waiting for them
to sell the ever-elusive ‘bag of cr*p’ (inside story for
those of you who w00t!)
December 10, 2008
@thuff7: uh oh. I guess that means we better get some tyke sizes printed then. Up until now, the demand has not been too high for the little ones :)
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham:
hey AP, keep missing ya!! good luck on the test!!
December 10, 2008
@maryannee:
bad news…
i only won a pair of tickets to a night of short track speed skating…lottery wasn’t kind to me. was even worse for my co-workers. they didn’t win anything. at least i’ll get to watch apolo ono race in the 1500m finals (that is if he qualifies). maybe i’ll see julianne hough!!!
December 10, 2008
@evann:
you a celtics fan?
December 10, 2008
@Carlos PIneda:
are you the guy kina’s talking to at the end of the SF marathon video??
December 10, 2008
@Alexpham:
i want to get her cds in person too!! one day…
December 10, 2008
hey AP, i thought you wanted to get them in person?? haha…just read that you bought them.
December 10, 2008
ok. this is going to be by far the craziest song request cover ever…
KINA GRANNIS – can you please cover “CIRCUS” by Britney Spears?!
LOL X 100000000000000
like you covered disturbia and you totally killed that track! it was the best cover ever…
i am sure you can do the same with Circus… it’s the most catchiest song by Britney… it’s so good LOL
that’s all
meeks
December 11, 2008
@thuff7:
good morning. don’t reply. i’m still sleeping.
December 11, 2008
@confused newbie: this must be a message from the future… like when you’re actually sleeping & thuff7 is awake, yeah?? lol…
December 11, 2008
Wow, that tree made realize how close Christmas is. Weird, time just flies. I’m not ready at all! Well, welcome back anyway!
ps. was that your singing in the background? Just wondering because I really liked it
December 11, 2008
@meeks: aaaaaarrgghh! not a britney song!!
@g3mini: maybe that’s why he’s so confused..
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: lol @ tim tams (on youtube), youtube is stupid! I uploaded it last night (some 11 hours ago) and it’s still not live.
I will post a message when it is, I’m so excited.
December 11, 2008
@avweije: lol… no worries… i thought you were going to sleep… so reggae/ska huh?? any artists in particular??
December 11, 2008
i’m glad to say i finally tried tim tams!!! n its sooo good!! but i dnt like it dat much wit warm milk!! but i love it wit hot chocolate!! i habnt decided if i like the chocolate creme flavor better or caramel!!! my friend like d caramel better though!!! hehehe! yummmm! gottas buy more after these 2 packs r done!!
December 11, 2008
@gigi44: grrrrr
you people and your tim tams, knock it off already with yummy stuff I can’t get here!!
@g3mini: bob marley is a favorite, would like to play some of his songs, but what got me onto the strumming technique was I’m yours by Jason Mraz.
That’s actually how I found Kina, I was driving home, heard I’m yours on the radio, thought that would be fun to play (thought an easy one), looked it up, found Kina’s cover and was hooked.
And the song I’m yours was a lot harder than I thought, so I haven’t been able to do it yet.
December 11, 2008
@avweije: wow… i’m yours, huh? before i moved out here two years ago, all the kids back home were playing that on their ukuleles. i still haven’t gotten around to learning it… & bob marley, yeah?? nice nice!!!
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: yes I’m not sure if I missed that song first time around or what, but I really like it and it’s fun to play.
Bob Marley is something from my younger years, still think he has great music, great lyrics. I’ve been to Jamaica once too, beautiful place, but wouldn’t go back too soon.
and are you saying you play the ukulele? I just watched mytime with you david choi/kina grannis and they say if you have a uk and geetar you can play this, so maybe we can do 2 recordings, 1 over the other and have a combined cover online!
December 11, 2008
@avweije: i try with the ukulele. but yes, i learned the ukulele part to that song. never recorded myself, but yeah, maybe we can do that.
that’s a big MAYBE.
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: lol, okay okay, I won’t ask anymore ;)
December 11, 2008
@avweije: haha… i’ll let you know when i’m ready. lol….
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: I’ll go get some coffee while you get ready then..
December 11, 2008
@avweije: yeah, i’ll sleep on it. you go get coffee…
g’night… until tomorrow!
December 11, 2008
good mornin everyone!!! off to another day at work!! hope everyone has a nice day!!! ttyl!
December 11, 2008
@thuff7:
lol thuff its just naming molecular and ionic compounds.. ya know, like
Co2(Cr2O7)3 —> cobalt dichromate and naming acids and stuff. its really pretty easy i just dont like it ;)
December 11, 2008
@mama g: *blushing* That’s me being a typical guy and not thinking about things like that!! Hmmmm. I guess I do need the right sizes!!
Well, when they were younger, I loved to shop for their clothes. There were just so many really cool things. Now we are in a neighborhood with a large number of younguns so we do a lot of swapping. They usually grow faster than the clothes wear out. (except the knees on boys!!) So I don’t shop that much. I guess it shows!!!
Well, if/when you put out a children’s line, I will order some. But I can’t imagine two shirts is enough to go through all that trouble!
December 11, 2008
@evann: sure, it can be easy once you get the system down. Think of it as a puzzle, I guess. I’m an organic analytical chemist and I rarely work with inorganics, especially things like cobalt dichromate. Those things are more applicable to industrial chemists.
December 11, 2008
Hi @gigi44: Looks like you guys had some pleasant conversations last night! Welcome to the Tim-Tam eating world! Well, I better motivate or I’ll end up here all morning. Have yourself a great day!!@
confused newbie: W A K E U P ! ! !
December 11, 2008
@confused newbie: Darn! But speed skating is exciting.. and scary. You go so fast(which is fun) but then it gets a little rough between people(which isn’t so fun). lol julianne hough.
@ravencolours: Mhmm, that’s “Stars Falling Down”!
Good morning kination! Take care!!
December 11, 2008
@maryanne:
Mornin’!!! Quickly stopping in before putting out some campus political fires. This is my refuge from the real world and a place to go to get grounded and re-centered. I suppose I should give a shout out to Kina for that as well (below).
Stars is one of my favorite vids!!! So funny and such a catchy tune. She should have more make up fights with her sis (and add that footage).
So have a great day m.a. and I’ll catch ya later today!!!
@Kina just a quick “Hi there”. Hope you have a beautiful day!! Peace.
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: way to go maryannee! speed skating is fun to watch and us dutchies are good at it!
oh, good morning to you too :)
@thuff7: good morning and good luck putting out fires ;)
@g3mini & others:
I have just uploaded the christmas song, take 2, not sure what happened, but take 1 just wasnt being activated by youtube, hope this one will go through, I’ll let you know when it is live.
@all:
woohoo! weekend!
December 11, 2008
woohooo!!
the christmas song, take 2 is live! click my name to see it!
@Kina: you are welcome to use this song on the b side of your CD :P (for free!)
PS
possibly in exchange for the track listing *eg*
December 11, 2008
@avweije:
There´s something wrong, first <40 secodns are mute?
December 11, 2008
@avweije:
Ok, the song was catchy, and I liked very much that you mentioned me together with Misa… couldn´t hope for a better company :)
December 11, 2008
@avweije:
Oh, just noticed your most generous offer to Kina. She should be extremely happy… this is something her cd is most likely missing, so far :)
December 11, 2008
@avweije: You sir, are a genuine maniac! I can only make one general observation. This world needs more Dutch!!!!!
December 11, 2008
@FinnFan: the 1st 40 seconds are mute, they are an intro of some sorts, my video editing skills still needs some work :P
And I figured you wouldnt mind that, let’s hope she feels the same way ;)
December 11, 2008
@thuff7: LOL, I take it you were amused :P and how about that nathan shoutout huh, the kid will go mad!
PS
I meant “the young man”, naturally.
December 11, 2008
@avweije:
Ok, so you left some room for improvement, just like Sergei Bubka.
Let´s hope Misa doesn´t get any allergic reactions… maybe I should try to convince her I have nothing against tim tams..?
December 11, 2008
@FinnFan: I always leave plenty of room for improvement :P hehe
I think it’s Kina who has the allergies, so we might be okay..
and as for the tim-tams, I should be receiving a batch shortly, thx to g3mini :P
December 11, 2008
@avweije:
Oh, I´m happy for you, you get to taste tim tams, congr…traitor…atulations!
December 11, 2008
@FinnFan: ahhh, I will share them with you, Finland seems like a nice place and I could use a holiday!
December 11, 2008
@avweije: ahhhh! awesome!! haha thank you!
December 11, 2008
@avweije:
:)
December 11, 2008
@avweije: haha good job man! I couldn’t strum half as well as you when I first started.
December 11, 2008
@maryanne:
Thanks to you, I got comment number 400! Thought it would be 399th, but you made your comment just before me! ;)
Not much of a comment though :(
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: hehe, thx, glad you like :) strumming is okay, strumming and them damping the sound (reggae-like) is still tough, but am working on it.
has nobody so far recognized this song from a popular comedy show?
December 11, 2008
@FinnFan: Oh nice! haha all part of the plan(not really)!! ;). It will be known as the “:)” post!
@avweije: How’s the I’m Yours cover coming along?? And sorry nope, I don’t recognize it:S.
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: I think the I’m yours cover will be awhile, I could probably get some version done, but I’d like to get the strumming right. Am working on no woman no cry (bob marley) at the moment, once I get the chords for the song going fluently, I’ll try to work on my reggae strumming in that song, once that works, move back to I’m yours (harder chords than no woman).
xmas song:
And what if I said the artist was Phoebe Buffay? :P
December 11, 2008
@avweije:
smelly cat, smelly cat,
what are they feeding you?!
you deserve that tim tam!! hahaha… you really do!
@ALL:
how’s it going??
December 11, 2008
@avweije: Are you kidding? When I show him that, he will go nuts!! I just need to duck in case he does one of his kicks out of shear joy!
Yes, it was really cool, appreciated, and very much in the Christmas/Holiday spirit and one more sign that Kination is a utopia!! Thanks, bro!
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: g3 are you really hooking him up with tim-tams??? What a wonderful person you are. See ppl? Didn’t I tell you she was way cool??
Oh, and of course that means we can razz him about it at least until he gets some, knowing that in the end, it will all wash out!!
@avweije: Oh, yeah, random Friends flashback. We use this all the time:
Joey: The point is moo.
??: The point is what?
Joey: Moo. Is a moo point. You know, cow sense. Moo.
Okay, so I had that in my head and used it in a meeting. Moo. sheesh!!!
December 11, 2008
@all – awkwardly random post here: (I know, I know, “what else is new?”)
Did anyone else notice that the bed in an Ambien commercial is the same bed in Kina’s cover of “Hallelujah”?
Ok, that knowledge and $1.25 will get me a sprite, but whatever . . .
December 11, 2008
@all – me again. ahem. Every so often, life makes a little change. This is one of those seminal moments when a slight name change is in order. I promise that I haven’t developed any alternate personalities (sorry to disappoint, hehehehe) but for clarity (thanks, for pointing out this flaw, avweije) I want to separate my first initial so it isn’t pronounced thuff rather than t huff.
So now that you’ve all dropped off into a catatonic state, I am hereby ending this post. Right now. As of this moment. From this moment on, I shall have nothing further to add. At all. Not even anything. So okay. Here I go. I *am* leaving this post. The end. For now. Well, not anything permanent mind you.
“Oh shut up, thuff.” blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…………………….
December 11, 2008
@all just so you know, I am not leaving for long . . . “THUFF!!!!” waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa……………………………..
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: it’s like a cow’s opinion, it doesn’t matter.. it’s moo.
rachel: is it me or did that just make sense?
@g3mini: thank you, a few packs would be nice (make sure you include the caramel filling ones too!)
I have hot coco so I can have a slammy!
Oh, and the song is not smelly cat, but the christmas song, by phoebe buffay:
she copied my song!!
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: I thought calling you “thuff” was quite comical :P and it rhymed really well with “clause”
*wacks a pesky fly over the head*
(sounds like: “THUDD!”)
December 11, 2008
@avweije: i know i know… it wasn’t that song… you mentioned phoebe so i thought i’d sing her smelly cat song!
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: that song is still way out of my league though
PS
linnlann is an old anglican word used when one doesn’t have a proper rhyming word.
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff:
wah?! why would u leave =( sadness!! =(
p.s. i am just horrible at chemistry in general.. i’m so bad at dimensional analysis !! rahh!

@confused newbie: I’m sure I can, you could probably use that as a “dun-dun-dun” bit, like:

@thuff7:
idk what the book is called.. its red tho ;)
we don’t use it that much but i think this might be chapter 10.. we just did ionic and covalent bonds and then intermolecular forces (yay!! *sarcasm*) lol
i think the book its a book by a company called McGraw Hill or Tim Grill or something? haha the second one makes me hungry ;)
December 11, 2008
@Alexpham: hehehehe j/k Seinfeld joke.
What’s up AP?? Tell us some good news from SoCal!!!!
December 11, 2008
god I missed that one, no soup for you! come back in 1 year!
December 11, 2008
@evann:
Okay. Everyday chemistry. Ionic bond: table salt. Covalent bonds: cooking oil. Intermolecular forces: Water. See, we need them all to cook a pot of spaghetti!
Why does ice float? Why does it form on top of the water? Ask avweije’s fish if they care?? hehehehe
December 11, 2008
@evann: i enjoy chem. actually and now i am a T.A. for my old chem teacher heehee!
December 11, 2008
@evann: Tim Tam grill?? Tim Tam McGraw and Faith Hill?
You know, some carnivals deep fry snickers bars. How bout deep fried tim tams. (Like we really need *that* in this country).
December 11, 2008
@Alexpham:
does this mean in a few years we’ll drop Kina for somebody else??
December 11, 2008
@confused newbie: And I’ll see *you* on the dark side of the moon.
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: our book is made by prentice hall.
yeh all that stuff i took a test on last week.. now we have to name and change formulas into names for acids, molecular compounds, and ionic and polyatomic ions
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: it’s 78 degrees and kina just emailed me back that she is trying to get a gig in San Diego in a few weeks.
December 11, 2008
@evann:
You know what the deadliest chemical in the world is? Dihydrogen monoxide. It’s extremely lethal, causes asphyxiation and contributes significantly to traffic accidents. The irony is that without it, we would die.
December 11, 2008
@confused newbie: no she’s on my top 3 forever! 1.JimmyEatWorld 2.Daft Punk 3. Kina Grannis =)
December 11, 2008
@Alexpham: Dude, if you don’t show up there with a big Kination sign, you ain’t gonna get any soup for 2 years!!
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff:

December 11, 2008

December 11, 2008
@Alexpham: You should talk to g3mini. Maybe you can hitch a ride. She’s probably dyin’ to go back to SD. You chip in for gas and a big box of tim tams, maybe you can charm her!!
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff:
sounds good to me!!
December 11, 2008
@evann:
Yeah, this dihydrogen monoxide stuff is deadly. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MawlljmaS1w
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: thx let me ask.
@g3mini want to go back home?
December 11, 2008
@Alexpham:
lol im absolutly horrid at chemistry.. its funny b/c im honors chemistry but only accelerated geometry.. next year tho im going to move from honors english and history to AP english and AP history and up to honors spanish but now to accelerated physics (thank god ;)lol)
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff:
is it thuff7 –> t.huff or just t.huff? *confused*
December 11, 2008
@evann: physics is fun purely formula and plug and chug into it.
December 11, 2008
@Alexpham: get her some caramel filled tim tams too!
December 11, 2008
@confused newbie: it’s “thuff”, he is doing this “t.huff” thing just to confuse us, like you needed that! sheesh..
December 11, 2008
Good evening gentlemen! How is everyone?! And what’s all this talk about chemistry? ;)
December 11, 2008

December 11, 2008
@avweije: those are so good with a slam! caramel melts in my mouth mmmmmmm….drool…
@maryanne: good thanks for asking well bye and what were your favorite bands growing up?
December 11, 2008
@Alexpham: :-|
December 11, 2008
@Alexpham: Yes, until you get to quantum physics. hehehehehe Try a triple integral Schroedinger equation for the d orbital excited state in polar coordinates!!!!
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: hey m.a. I’m just toying with Evann and warning everyone about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide. Deadly stuff. Even as I speak dihydrogen monoxide is settling out of the atmosphere and creating deadly conditions all across the region. I am worried that someone is going to get hurt if they don’t heed my warnings.
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: Oh, that and I am changing my name. I am casting off the limitations imposed by single-digit prime numbers
December 11, 2008
@Alexpham:Hey see you later Alex. Good luck with the physics HW. Write an essay on the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide!!!! j/k enjoy your evening!!
December 11, 2008
@avweije:
pssst…doesn’t he know that i’m already confused…
December 11, 2008

December 11, 2008
@avweije: lol of course, there’s good chemistry between everyone in here silly. Everyone just gets along umm…swimmingly. How goes geetaring?
@Alexpham: Bye! Have fun with physics :). My favorite band/artist ;)… hmm I will have to think on that…
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: Oh man. I will never leave the house again. Or is it too late?! Are we going to die?!? when!?!? whyyyyy?! I must listen to Kina music before I go!…..*phew* anyway, how are you and how’s the family?
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: no no no that would mean sneezing galore!
December 11, 2008

hehehehe okay, way to go girl!!! I knew you rocked. Didn’t I tell you guys she rocks??!!!
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: I shall get on it! You can count on me! *salutes*
@avweije: :O i did!…. Yay.
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: I think everyone caught it, so it’s time to move beyond this transition zone and make it for real.
December 11, 2008
@thuff7 –> t.huff: Aww shucks *blushes* haha thanks :p.
Yes yes. Time to make it real!
December 11, 2008
Good everning y’all.
Silly qvestion #137 – how do post w/ an avatar ?
December 11, 2008
He emerges from his numerical cocoon.
Say ‘hello all’, I feel I’ve broken all my chains
That feeling just couldn’t have come to soon.
Nothing but freedom, hope and joy remains.
hehehehe 8P raspberry . . . .
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: Hey Geddy!!! How are you!?
hehe that’s not a silly question. You go to http://www.gravatar.com. Follow instructions and then when you make a post here make sure you put in the email you used at gravatar. It may take a bit for your picture to load but it’ll happen eventually :S. Sorry, I’m a bad teacher but if you have questions, ask!
December 11, 2008
@T.Huff: haha! nice one.
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: Phew.
December 11, 2008
@T.Huff: :O! are you referring to A Bugs Life????
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: No, not sure what you mean. Loved A Bug’s Life. What a story line!!! What a cast of voices!! I forgot about that. We had it DVRed, but our hard drive crashed and we lost a ton of stuff!!
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: Time to tuck in the boys.
BBL.
<3,
the new T.Huff
December 11, 2008
@T.Huff: Oh lol *embarrassed* I was thinking of the caterpillar, he likes boysenberries or something and he became a butterfly…? I don’t lol! Aanyway, it was a great movie. Oh no! I hate when that happens. Is there any safe place to keep data?!?
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: Doin fine, just corked a bottle of Pinot and am sitting down to check mail, etc; Going to gravitate over to gravatar to check out the avatar thing after a bit. So… did you song binge on Kate Rusby yet?
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: Ooo, What’s the occasion?? haha I’m a noob at computers so anyone is welcome to help. I’m sorry, what was that about the talented Kate Rusby?
December 11, 2008
@maryanne:
The occasion for the wine… um.. er.. Thursday? Yeah! That’s it – almost Friday! Just wondering if you had listened to Kate Rusby again after last night. I like her accent – her being from Northern England, you can really pick out the near Scottish accent on soom woords in the soong.
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: haha! Being almost the weekend is a great occasion! Unfortunately no I haven’t. After I left I fell asleep and then I was pretty busy today :(. Oh yea! That’s what her accent was! haha and yes, you can definitely hear it. Makes the music so much more prettier :).
December 11, 2008
@maryanne:
Nathan has a joke for you!!! He is taking control here:
what is the state with the smallest dessert?
December 11, 2008

@evann:

December 11, 2008
@T.Huff: Good night Nathan! Sweet dreams :)
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: Hey, I’ve been listening to her myspace and she has really nice songs! Her voice kind of reminds me of the girl from The Weepies. They’re both cool.
December 11, 2008
@T.Huff:
arrrggggggile!
(except you must say ‘arg’ just like a pirate does!!)
December 11, 2008
@evann: haha that’s cute.
December 11, 2008

December 11, 2008
@maryanne:

December 11, 2008
*arrgh*
wish I could find the remote for the dvd player. one of my co-workers loaned me his 3 disk set of ‘land of the lost’ from 70’s the saturday morning tv show. now the intro song keeps playing over and over and over and over
December 11, 2008
Hi peoples,
T.Huff, your transition worked very well.
bye peoples.
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: You know what? Someone should invent something that connects to anything (like a little sticker type thingy) and then that is wirelessly connected to….something(like a phone dock) so that when you lose anything like a controller or an mp3 player or something small you usually misplace you could press a button on the dock and the little sticker type thingy will make a sound and light up and tada! You’ve found what you’re looking for!! lol! I wonder if that makes sense to you guys. hehe :s. It’s like the pager button for phones…. Oootay, enough of my random babbling.
Sorry for improper grammar and spelling haha.
December 11, 2008
@Screwy: Hi Screwy!!! Thanks, man!
Good to see you droppin’ in. Hope all is well. Be cool.
December 11, 2008
@evann: arrggghhhile. hehehehe!
How’s the chem?? You heard me say to watch out for atmospheric transporting of dihydrogen monoxide, right?? Clouds of this hazardous chemical build up in the atmosphere creating dangerous conditions for a lot of people.
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: Oh, m.a. I definitely need one!! I can lose the remote within a 2 foot radius of myself without ever getting up. Seriously, I need a remote clapper!! Clap your hands and it woots!! Oh, and don’t even get me started about my cell phone!!! The minute I tell someone the best way to reach me is by cell, I go an leave it somewhere where I can’t hear it. duh.
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: Uncle Fester in a Kina tee???
December 11, 2008
@Screwy:
hey screwy!! just wondering but did your podcast idea ever clear?
December 11, 2008
@T.Huff: haha! Seee! Someone needs to invent something like that!!!! You could make so much money out of it!!!
*phew* I’m glad someone understands my pain!
December 11, 2008
@maryanne:
it’s like the smallest remote ever. i picked up one of those cheapo dvd players that upconverts to HD and i haven’t programmed it into my all in one yet : (
yes, a remote locator would come in handy
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: seriously. the whole family stares at me while I flounder around trying to find the remote. We DVR shows so we can scan through the commercials, but I consistently take longer to find the remote than the commercials actually run!! *sigh*
December 11, 2008
@T.Huff:
uncle fester? lol
wanna see me light up a light bulb?
December 11, 2008
enjoying a nice, relaxed thursday with some music *a must* & the bla(h)g after an awesome japanese dinner… YUM!
how’s everyone’s evening??
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: Wow…. I didn’t understand what that meant but I’m sure it’s cool :D! lol sorry, it’s probably very simple but I’m not tech-savvy unfortunately. But yes, remote locator ftw!
@T.Huff: “the whole family stares at me while I flounder around trying to find the remote” hahah! That’s a funny sight!! That should be the commercial ad for the ‘remote locater thingy that someone should invent’.
December 11, 2008
@g3mini:

December 11, 2008
@g3mini: Evening G3m! I’m good. Drinking some green tea :) how about you?
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: Hi g3mini. That sounds good!! What did you have? Go out or eat in? Glad you can kick back and enjoy the evening. Got any stories for us??
December 11, 2008
@evann: Yes, snow day FTW!!!!
Don’t feel like working, but tomorrow, I have two high school students to mentor and a grad student to work with on a unique antibiotic delivery system. (covalent bonds hehehehe) gotta tease you a bit…. you know I’m just pulling your leg, right??
Hint, snow day = solid form of dihydrogen monoxide, right!!!???
December 11, 2008
@maryanne:
what what meant?
the dvd player puts out a high definition picture without having to spend a bunch of bux on new technology (like blu ray)
December 11, 2008
@g3mini:
so what was on the menu tonight?
December 11, 2008
@evann: taking that test is inevitable… whether it’s tomorrow or after a snow storm… hehe… i’m sure you’ll do fine… just get it outta the way. oh high school…
@maryanne: just relaxing… thinking of blogging… maybe.
@T.Huff: went out… had some hamachi, tako, sake, & maguro sushi… miso soup was yummy & good for a cold night.
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: Oooh! Now I get it. Thanks for clearing that up heh.
December 11, 2008
@g3mini:

December 11, 2008
@T.Huff: stories?? hmmm… uneventful day, but it was good. i cleaned like crazy. took everything out of the cabinets and reorganized it. finished all the laundry. i just really cleaned the house – top to bottom. i even did the dusting – and i’m allergic. so in between cleaning & all that good stuff, i was sneezing like crazy!!!
not really a story, but that was my day…
December 11, 2008
@evann: ahhh… in that case, i’ll cross my fingers for that snow day tomorrow!!! ;)
December 11, 2008
@maryanne:
actually it’s pseudo high def, not quite as nice as real HD but still better than a regular dvd. it’s doesnt have lots of buttons and stuff but i got it to play – right now i’m kinda laughing at the 70’s low-tech animation.
December 11, 2008
@gigi44: great night… how about yours??
December 11, 2008

@T.Huff: hahahh yea!! next time try pad see iw!! i love noodles too!!
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: oh that is such an excellent idea!! I love pot luck.
Well, sometimes you aren’t so lucky hehehe last one I went to had really bizarre combinations and we were like “whaaatttt???” We’re not used to Virginia cuz everyone brings the same things. Ham, green beans, cole slaw. Five versions of each.
But clearly, there are some refined tastes among us!!!
December 11, 2008
@g3mini:
San Diego County

December 11, 2008
@T.Huff: Yeaa :( I wish we could help them pack :T.
December 11, 2008
@g3mini:
I was in your neck of the desert for of all things, a wedding, back in Oct… we stayed off the strip at the Cabo Resort and my friends got married out on Lake Mead on a paddleboat. It was like, the best wedding ever. How are you liking actually living in LV?
December 11, 2008
@gigi44: Hey I really did it!! That’s the only way I can remember stuff!! I mean I always go to my inbox.
Okay, just went to the kitchen “menu drawer” and found it at a place we just discovered. Little place in an old town hotel. Item #72. We love Chinese broccoli and get it at the Asian market all the time.
December 11, 2008
@evann: It uh…. I think has fallen into permanent limbo. It’s still there, and I’ve been keeping it updated, though I haven’t gotten around to the latest video just yet. I sent Kina a bit of a nudge e-mail a few days ago to try and keep it on her mind, but I suspect we’ll be waiting awhile. It’s unfortunate, but with her schedule all I can do is wait and be understanding.
Thanks for asking though!
December 11, 2008
@maryanne: I was thinking that on the ride home from work. Wouldn’t working in the merch room be the best job? Spreading joy all around. Working for Kina! Tim tams and tunes at all breaks!!
December 11, 2008
@T.Huff: Haha! That’s the life huh? ;)
Well I’m out. Good night kination! Take care!!
December 11, 2008
@confused newbie / anyone:
Another merch idea/question: has Kina ever thought about selling her signed photos (with similar text she writes on her little notes)? I can think a few places in my home I could put one… like on top of my computer ;)
December 11, 2008
@maryanne:

December 11, 2008
@g3mini:
so the old adage “nice place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there” rings true
December 11, 2008
i’ve been waiting 4 a while already! hehehe!
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: i’ve been here a little over two years… i just really don’t like the extreme weather changes… 110+ in the summers… & anywhere between 50-30 in winter. then the wind picks up & with my allergies, the dust is killer. & in the spring… the pollen – ack! i could die!!! lol.
December 11, 2008
@g3mini:
i understand completely, i grew up in Minn and have no desire to live anywhere where the climate gets that extreme again
December 11, 2008
@g3mini: I think that much heat would kill me.
December 11, 2008
@Geddy: i miss CA weather.
December 11, 2008
@Screwy: yeah, it would kill anyone… which is why they say, during the summer all over the news, STAY INSIDE!!!
December 11, 2008
eyelids getting heavy. about time to check out.
g’knight
December 11, 2008

Have a great one, off to get the donuts!
December 12, 2008

December 12, 2008
@avweije:
Scared..? That didn´t prevent you from climbing to #85 Most Viewed Musician Today. Looks like you´re not taking our warnings seriously??
*my most frigthening Clint Eastwood look*
December 12, 2008
Oh, in Netherlands..? What was it earlier?
December 12, 2008
@FinnFan: It wasn’t me, I didn’t do it, honestly!! I will send youtube an email soon that they remove me from any listings, good god, I would not want to get killed over this!! :P
Did you see I am a singer/songwriter now? Looks cool I think!
December 12, 2008
@FinnFan: think it was always Netherlands, or I hadnt specified yet. I was born in Australia, but moved here when I was 2, always felt dutch.
And I don’t really understand the rating, I still don’t have that many channel views, but I guess the entire blog going to the xmas song was enough to get me there.
Still, no record deals yet :( weird huh..
December 12, 2008
@avweije: Still, I’d watch out if I were you.
This guy over here ——————————–>
may have to come over there and pay a visit . . .
December 12, 2008
@avweije:
Ok, I believe you, but like Mr. Big Boss H above says, watch out… yesterday you had 1 subscriber, today 2… If you keep on doubling the number every day, in two more weeks you´ll have more subscribers than Kina!
December 12, 2008
@T.Huff: I wouldn’t want to have him on my tail! Please remind the kind sir that he was the only one mentioned in full capital letters in the video shoutouts :-| that should give me some credit
@FinnFan: Hmm, good point, let me check to see who the subscribers are and I will send mini-thuff after them!
December 12, 2008
@avweije:
Oops… that was a very good counter-attack! Let´s forget the whole thing, no need for any unfriendly visits! Besides, it´s cold in Finland, who´d want to come here anyway..?
*feeling defeated*
December 12, 2008
@FinnFan: lol, I’ll wait till summer, still feel like a holiday, but for young nathan it is far too cold ;)
I am using one of your photos as a background, you got compliments from my mom, aunt and uncle when they were here last weekend.
I will soon go back and change it to another.
December 12, 2008
@avweije: Ha!! That boy would love Holland and Finland. He loves the cold and he loves to see new places. me, too!! motto: there’s no bad weather, only bad clothes . . . .
December 12, 2008
@thuff7: even when the atmosphere is filled with deadly dihydrogen monoxide.
December 12, 2008
@thuff7:
“there’s no bad weather, only bad clothes”… are you sure?
http://www.lintukuva.fi/lajikuvat/kuvahtml/6harras108.html
That´s me in Lapland :D
December 12, 2008
@thuff7: that’s a great motto, love it! (now to check finn’s pic :P)
December 12, 2008
@FinnFan: makes me think of 1 time I was skiing with my dad, we were up the mountain as 1st and about an hour later they closed the lifts. It was snowing like crazy, I was 12 or so and I was in to my waist, trying to ski down. We had fun watching our tracks on the 2nd run, but there was not a whole lot of skiing for me :P
Oh, it was -20 celcius, sure yours was colder there.
December 12, 2008
@FinnFan
Nice pics… but they’re all pictures OF photographers. Any OTHER wildlife out there?
@avweije/thuff7
“there are no stupid questions, just stupid people”… a personal favorite, thank you Mr. Garrison.
(yes, I work in Tech Support)
December 12, 2008
@wwar1ace:
The site belongs to 4 top Finnish bird photographers, this is the link for an English version:
http://www.birdphoto.fi/
These guys are professional, with many rewards in international competitions. I´ve cooperated with two of them.
December 12, 2008
@FinnFan: Awesome shots!!! Thanks again. Dazzling.
You obviously have some great gear and clothing, and I bet you haven’t gotten frostbite too badly (toes, cheeks, fingertips??) since you can still tap out some great bla(h)g posts and hit the shutter button!!
I imagine the fact that you have to keep still makes it worse. I wintered in Colorado for a few years and regularly went to the mountain tops to downhill ski or sneak into the back of a ranch for Nordic skiing on weekends when the mountain was too busy. We’d be out in -35 C with high winds, but we’d be moving and end up shedding layers. I’d hate to have to lie still like that for hours holding cold steel!!
December 12, 2008
@wwar1ace: Oh, I love tech support stories!!!!!
December 12, 2008
bounjour tout le monde!!!!hi everyone
Thank you kina for you new video and i’m very happy for you
i’m can’t wait for a European tour maybe this summer;)
have a lovely week end!!!
December 12, 2008
@caidalica: Hi long lost stranger! Haven’t seen you in a few days (around here a few days is several hundred posts!–it seems like a long time.) Thanks for dropping by. Hope all is well!! Enjoy your weekend as well.
December 12, 2008
@thuff7:
Photographing capercaillies on display is the worst experience I´ve had. You have to be at your place in the evening, because they gather during night. Usually they change their place a little during the season, so using a warm hide may not be an option – often, you have to use a tent. And spending all night in a tent when temperature is -15…-20 C is not a pleasant experience now matter how good your sleeping bag is. Brrrrr….
December 12, 2008
Btw… what happened to T.Huff?
December 12, 2008
@FinnFan: Okay, I think I have my name back. Forgot to sign in . . .
Ouch, that’s hard core work. Serious dedication to your craft. These are the kind of things you do that sound so good when you plan them, and you’re so proud of the when you look back but just are incredible tests of endurance. That makes your work all the more impressive to me. And the fact that this is your past time, not your full time job is awesome.
I am printing out some shots of you in the snow to take with me when I sample river water for my research this winter. Next time I complain about being out in the cold, I’ll take a look to remind me I’ve really got it soft!!
December 12, 2008
@thuff7: i know i knowi’m a week end blogger but i’m very busy for my exams!!!(last moment works) it will be better when Christmas holidays will come!!!
December 12, 2008
@caidalica: Hey, good luck with your exams. See you afterward for some holiday cheer!!
December 12, 2008
thank so much!!!but i’m not confident for my exam i have not enough pieces of arts to show.i’m little lazy this time!!!
December 12, 2008
@T.Huff:
Oh, and I forgot to tell the worst: that time, the capercaillies had moved 100 meters to a different direction from what we expected => the reward for all the trouble was only one (useless) photo… you can´t win them all!
December 12, 2008
@FinnFan: Yikes! When it’s that cold, I’d be afraid to fall asleep!! You must have been up all night.
December 12, 2008
well, logging back out for the trip home. my 4-year-old’s Christmas party at pre-school. could be *loud* hehehehe
December 12, 2008
HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!
I almost put a qualifier on that, because I know many people have weekend jobs and some of us don’t have jobs so the day of the week doesn’t matter so much, but… I STILL want EVERYONE to have a happy Friday.
@T.Huff: Noooo! Ban DHMO before it effects us all!!! Go to DHMO.org for tons more info and research!
@Misa: I thought I’d bring this to your attention: the teeny tiny tour isn’t on the “Shows” link from kinagrannis.com, not even as a teaser or tentative “Venue/Time TBD”. I thought it might be good to have there for people who aren’t into the whole blog thing (as few as they may be). Also, if you need anything website or hosting related let me know, I’ve got time on my hands. *HUGS*
@Geddy: That’s a really cute avatar! Good job!
@evann & gigi44: The e-mail was under 5 minutes for me, using a gmail account. I don’t know what email system you guys are using, but Gravatar says that anti-spam systems often catch their messages. If you can, add “donotreply@gravatar.com” to your contacts or whitelist. That might help.
@Kina: Any chance you could swing by and do a show in SF on your way back from the Teeny Tiny Tour? :-D
*HUGS*
December 12, 2008
…and, since those car commercials, I thought it would be a fun question to pose on here:
What was your Best Christmas Gift Ever?
December 12, 2008
@Alderin: Hey, Alderin! Thanks for the DHMO site! See, I told you guys. This stuff can kill you!!! Please take these warnings very seriously!!
I am ordering a set of zero-volume glassware for my lab. From Acme Kein Bottles. It’s the ideal glassware for academic science. It’s the perfect place for students to display the fundamental essence of their work! The teachers will love it, too. They can use it to convey the true meaning of their lectures. And it comes with hats!!
December 12, 2008
@Alderin: a gameboy pocket! and pokemon stuff/digimon!
