so last nite… this is a true story x 1000. i had to wake my sister up at like 12:15AM.

so my dog stays in my room more than anyone else’s. she loves me the most i guess? haha. anyways, last nite, i already turned off the lights to lay in bed, as i put my hand on my blanket (which was unmade eh heh…) my hand got stuck to a mouse trap… (TRUE STORY I SWEAR X 1000)
a glue stick one. and so i screamed in reaction! turned on the lights and my sister said “miko… what happened” from her room. i went to her door and said “ate`” which means older sister in filipino. “ate` come here”

and she got out and looked at the mouse trap stuck in my blanket, and it had a freakin baby mouse on it… dead…. you have no idea how TRAUMATIZED (is there a level worse than traumatized?!) i am by mice, or terrified. and i have a dead mouse on a mouse trap stuck between my blanket and i was able to roll into bed with one. eeeeeeeeeeeeek. kina, why do u like mice? they are of the devil jk haha

so I love the song! but my stupid big brother decided to blast his rap music while I was trying to listen.. I’ll have to watch it again later when he’s not at home. It’s different now that I’m 18 and living with my older siblings… no parents… weird! anyways I’m rambeling…

I’m glad that you had a wonderful holiday season Kina. I know how it is to spend time with your family and not want to leave. since I have 2 families and I just moved away I didn’t really want to leave my dad and my god mom but then again, for the sake of my schooling I had to. It really sucks that I’m not driving yet. I’ve never ridden a segway beofre… probably because here there is no need for one. I’m such a kluts anyways that I would probably get thrown off mine too so don’t worry your not the only clumsy person here :p

Yay! What’s not to like! Birthday shoutout, street team acceptance, Emi speaking Japanese (is that real or the infamous Emi fake Japanese?), general zaniness by all (the end was a bit surreal), and the video in HD!!! I’ll have to watch it again on the big screen!

Oh, and I am taking the week of Feb. 23 off of work, but that doesn’t have anything to do with Kina ;)

@Gene Parmesan: Personally, I just hope they update the Mac Box Set when Snow Leopard comes out. That would be a sweet deal!
And of course, Kina’s already got a head start on teaching her songs. It would be pretty cool to see her in the new GarageBand store.

ROFL…great vid, but I did love the Beyonce cover best. Did you guys get the idea from the SNL spoof with Justin Timberlake and Beyonce? If you haven’t seen it, it is super funny AND disturbing.

I love your sisters almost as much as I love you! Haha! Especially Emi (she is the younger one?) using a makeshift snare out of what I’m not sure was a whisk or one of those head massage things. It looks like you had as much fun making it as we all did watching it. And was that a Domokun making an appearance? Could you lasses get more Japanese? :)

But how can you injure your hand playing the Wii?! Here I was thinking you were all hands-on and arts-and-craftsy; but perhaps no longer if your hand is, rather alarmingly, purple! :P

p.s Ms Grannis, how would one go about getting one of your famous shout outs? I guess being a regular lurker isn’t enough these days… sheesh. Can I get one next time? And make it special if you have that time, haha! Like on a piece of origami or something, I know you can do it :P

so, i’m a long time youtube fan (gotta digg), but somewhat new to the blog. i thought i’d share and write about last night’s show (which was my first time hearing kina live).

i got a little excited when kina announced the show with justin young, as i’ve been a fan of his for a long time. i didn’t know any of his newer songs, but liked his old covers and his hawaiian stuff. plus, after looking up the jimmy miller foundation, it was for a good cause. so, going to the show was a no-brainer.

i took along some friends that had never heard of kina or justin. i thought it’d be cool to introduce the 3 of them to their music. i remember asking kina about the street team, and she suggested bringing people to shows. halfway there, one of them realized she had no ID. we decided to just go and see if they’d let her in. the guy at the door was really cool. i said i was there for the foundation and promised that she was over 21 (which she was), and he let us in.

we got in right before tandis morgan set up. i thought it’d be standing room only, but we somehow managed to get a booth in an area they call “the studio.” it faced the right of the stage and offered an unobstructed view. it had tvs, too, but the high-def tv in front of us was terrible. the people in the booths and tables to the right of us had a crowd in front of them, so i was happy we could see the stage. there was some ambient noise, but we could hear her fine. tandis did her set (which was her first ever in front of a crowd) and all was well.

then it was kina’s turn. she got up on stage and started setting up. the noise picked up dramatically, but i figured people were just mingling. the crowd got bigger, so i assumed they were all trying to see kina better. it got really loud, and i was basically shouting at my friends who are sitting right next to me. after a while, she started strumming and singing into the mic. i thought she was doing some last minute sound checks or something. she didn’t stop and this was when i realized she had started her set. unfortunately, the crowd never quieted down. my friends kept saying that kina’s voice sounded great, but they couldn’t actually hear the lyrics or make out what she was saying in between songs.

i don’t remember the exact set list but i think it was something like this:

with about a minute left in MFYH, everyone quieted down. on her last song? seriously? what the heck?

then it was justin’s turn. it seemed like he had a pretty long set. the whole place was pretty quiet during his set for some reason. he did some of his older and newer stuff. he even took a request. towards the end he did this awesome r&b medley “for the 30-year-olds.” it was boysIImen, 112, new edition, guy, peter cetera and a bunch of others i know i’m forgetting. also, kina, emi, and justin did a callabo singing colbie caillat’s “realize.” if you’ve seen her youtube cover, this live version was 100 times better. now that it was quiet, my friends were pretty much floored by her talent. they kept saying they wish they could’ve heard her other songs.

after that, my friends were all ready to leave. i thought i’d take a chance to see if i could meet kina. unfortunately, i couldn’t find her. we started walking towards the exit, with me bringing up the rear. with my friends walking in front of me, i couldn’t really see. in the hallway we walked between a girl talking to 2 asian guys. she was leaning against the wall and the guys were across from her on the other side of the hallway. as i passed the girl, i did a double take–it was kina. she’s deceptively tiny in person. a little star-struck, i kept walking. after we stepped out the door, someone asked if that was kina. that’s when it hit me. i blew my chance to meet her.

*what a loser!*

when we got back, i showed them some of kina’s videos and they were amazed. i purposefully didn’t show them her videos ahead of time because i wanted them to hear the real thing and judge for themselves.

(very) long story, short…kina’s got 3 new fans. =)
even though it was pretty loud where we were sitting, we all enjoyed your show, kina. hopefully, one day i’ll get to meet you. =)

@Mama G: yeah, i probably could’ve just gone to the merch table after her set. it was a toss up between saying hi and listening to justin’s set. i figured she’d be there later. i didn’t really want to miss justin’s set. i even brought a cd for her to autograph which i forgot in the car *slaps forehead*

i’ll definitely take you up on that offer for the button one day. too bad you couldn’t make it, though. if you haven’t seen it, “k9ripper85″ uploaded a couple of kina’s and justin’s songs on youtube.
