oovret: Week 57

Does your family have any Father’s Day traditions?
my mom and my sisters and i make him breakfast in bed, which consists of: okonomiyaki (japanese pancake of sorts), a papaya, fresh squeezed juice (this year’s was apple, carrot, celery), and coffee. of course, like with mother’s day, emi is in charge of arranging a mini bouquet of flowers from our backyard. we bring him up his food and the newspaper and then let him relax for a while. then we all come back up and give cards/presents… the rest of the day is doing what he wants to do. this year it was father’s day with the extended family.
What do you appreciate about your father?
everything. he’s one of the most kind, generous, intelligent and respectable people there are. he has been the best dad ever to my sisters and i, he is there for us 100%. he has always supported me in everything i do. and he is a role model, he has dedicated his life to learning and helping others.
How many times have you played a show at a fair?
caruthers fair: twice
san diego fair: once
i think that’s it?
Do you enjoy listening to Joni Mitchell?
yes :) i could drink a case of you.
If you could have played the lead in any movie, which character would you be?
if i actually put more thought into this i’m sure i’d think of some cool role that would allow me to travel a lot/meet cool people/do awesome things. but off the top of my head, sam from garden state.

Kina.
*doesn’t even know what to type or say or write*
*sigh*
First, great song. I love The Fray. Evidently, I love you more, but, you know, I’ve never spent any time with The Fray.
Second, your dad is one of the coolest people I’ve ever met, so, I hear ya. You’re a lucky girl, and I know you know it.
Third, nice harmonies!
Fourth, I can’t believe you just heard that song today and you rocked it so well. Impressed, and impressed some more.
Fifth, you’re awesome. And, not just in the colloquial, casual, every day use of the word ‘awesome’. I mean, AWESOME, awesome.

Thank you.

Kina. Kina. Kina, like Alison said, I can’t believe you never heard this song!!!!! Off of their latest album, this is my FAVORITE song. I had to learn it straight away… So while I watched & adjusted my capo (capo 3, I think), I played along.
You’d think this song couldn’t get any better, but Kina, you did an AWESOME job as always!

<3

*now i’ll go and listen to it again and again and again and… you know what i mean*

This is the first time I heard this song too. Since I have heard you sing it I have been hesitate to listen to the original. Although I will reserve judgment, I think I will like your version best.

You are truly blessed to have the awesome Dad you have. It is a wonderful thing that you and your sisters get along with him so well.

The pups say “Hi” :-)

You heard the song today??? Wow… i guess it´s part of being a professional to be able to master songs fast but still, i´m impressed.

Very clever shoutouts once again.

I must confess I got a little teary-eyed when I read what you said about your dad… It´s such a joy, and so rare, to see so much mutual respect in a family. Thanks to you and your whole family for letting us witness that. <3 the Granni :)

So i was going to say “i’ve been waiting for you to do one of the frays songs” but i messed it up. Then, i added another comment to correct myself. But it was wrong too. So i added a third. Now i realize you can actually edit it. Sorry…

I’m not sure you want my recipe. It’s the Mama G version which is:
1. chop a bunch of cabbage, green onions, pickled ginger
2. throw in some eggs, flour, and sesame oil
3. mix in assorted chopped yummy things (shrimp is a fav here)
4. throw on a hot griddle
5. serve with tonkatsu sauce
proportions always change (too lazy to figure it out!)

I’ve only quickly heard of the fray before your cover is good and the stop motion shoutout is fun.
During a week i went to visit my 3 years old nephew and my 3 month niece they really enjoyed your songs and videos but its weird when i tried to play strong enough the younger one started to cry. I’m sure she didn’t like this song haha or it was too loud or maybe I’m just a bad guitarist :p i don’t know?

i heard Regina’s new album i really like it! it would be so good if you sing a song from this new album :)

a hail of love to you and to your family and vive l’étè!
