“Valentine” Official Music Video

it’s now been 3 super bowls since my last proper music video! i shot this one last week with a very talented director named Ross Ching. it’s amazing what can be done with 760 empty dvd cases and a LOT of patience.

Stairwells Release Party!

for those in the LA area, the cd release party will be held on Saturday, February 27th from 7-9pm at the Dakota Lounge in Santa Monica. there are limited spots available to the public so arrive early if you want to be a part of the celebration, we’ll be taking people first come first serve after my RSVPed guests have checked in! there will be mingling, hors d’oeuvres, treats, and music, of course. it’s 18+ and $15 at the door.

<3

much much love to all of you for supporting my music, if even in the teeniest of ways. you all made this possible and i am endlessly grateful for that.

oovret: Week 73

Have you sung “Singin’ in the Rain”, in the rain?
just that line, yes :)
Are you working on another Valentine’s Day song?
not this year. was a little busy working on the same one :)
Since your Superbowl appearance, have you been offered to appear in any other advertisements?
only silly things
Did you enjoy any of this year’s Superbowl commercials?
i spent all yesterday in front of my computer! i’ll definitely watch the ads sometime this week.
Do you feel obligated to eat Doritos during every Superbowl?
how about any time i walk by them in a store?? ;)

Well, I guess I picked a good day to be home sick!

Such an awesome video for an awesomely done song! I’ve had high expectations for the new album but I think you’re exceeding them Kina (and I’ve been cranky and not liking anything lately)! I’m so excited for you! ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Kina, WOW!

This one’s gonna get alotta miles on it. You and your selected artists are just so creative in presenting a story. I think we’ve all been through heartbreak and healing so it seems to me that this video will become a great and longstanding image of your art.
We are so proud of you here in Ohio.
Keep it up so we can see you soon!

I love how Kina can work with talented people whatever she does. The video is perfect for the song, perfect for Kina and just… perfect. And the song itself is perfect, Kina sings it perfectly and she is… perfect.

I need to stop before I make myself a perfect fool.

I must say, I came to do a driveby in the SB last night and found the pre-order… we were all giddy like little school girls and I didn’t get to sleep until about 4.30 AM :P

WOOHOO! The video is sooo lovely! Congratulations! Of course already preordered. The previews sound awesome.
Your album is very cheap (maybe too cheap?). In Europe you don’t get many good albums cheaper than 24 dollars…hmm…I think I should buy it twice then :D

Hey Kina,

Wow, I cant believe that it has been 3 years since this all began! I have really enjoyed following your progress and seeing your creativity bloom. I still remember your first videos and that small(er) fan base you had on your crashthesuperbowl website. So much has changed! But I am glad to see you haven’t, that “kina flair” is still very much alive. :)

Well, I just wanted to congratulate you on the new album. I can wait to receive my copy. :) Keep it up Kina! I wish you the best of luck in the future!

Hey Kina!

Congrats on Stairwells, the new music video, the release party, Kinacon, and all the great things that have happened and are about to happen for you! I wish I could be in LA to experience and photograph it all….

I especially love your new Valentine music video. Found it on Digg this morning. Great cinematic look, great production value, and the audio sounds incredibly well produced. IT looks ready for some prime time airplay.

I only wish there were more of the quintessential Kina video shots in it, like that at 01:42 of the video: a tight shot of you playing the guitar, looking down, singing, feeling the music, turning your head, then looking up… and smiling… right at us… as if we were right there with you… That is the shot that pulls you in when you watch all your videos… tell your next director we want more shots like that in your next music video. ;-)

On another note, I have to admit that I was kinda worried about how your music would translate from inside the studio. But after hearing Valentine and the other songs you’re previewing on your site, there is nothing to worry about. The emotion, the nuances, the vocal character is all still there, intact and sounding better than ever. I love the almost-island feel of the background instrumentation. Very well produced! I’m sure the whole album will be an incredible hit!!

As always, I wish you and your family the best! Can’t wait for you to come to New York again… ;-)

Dear Kina,

Today is my 21st birthday, and watching your first music video from your first big album is about as good of a present as I can think of (even if it’s mere coincidence). Thanks for working so hard to make such great music. Can’t wait for the album! This seems like it could cross over into the mainstream!

Also, the direction of this video was awesome. Kudos to Ross Ching!

We both know you’re incredibly excited about it.. But you can already listen to it whenever you want, I literally can not wait! It made my whole week just being able to order it!
In the 16 years of my life I have never been so excited about a CD coming out, or this excited about anything!

Ahhhh I really don’t know what else to say apart from a big, big congratulations, and I hope that it brings you everything that you’ve been working for.

Seeing you live is definitely on my list of things to do before I die, haha.

Again, well done. You deserve to do well with this!

Thankyou!

P.S. Ahhhhhhh I can’t waiiiitttt!

Loved the video, can’t wait for the album. I do have to wonder though, why choose that picture for the album cover, that beautiful smile needs to be seen, not hidden.

Love you music, keep it coming, you’re fantastic.

Wow!!!! It was such a lovely moment when I met Kina.
I got her autograph from her, on back of my jacket that I was wearing. With a good-bye kiss and a hug, I left for home promising to see her again.
I was so excited as I wanted to show my family and friends what I had. I was so glad, the feeling was so good. That was just sweet that I had just met one of the sweetest thing on Earth.
As I was about to get inside the house, I found myself on my bed and there was Kina’s Valentine playing on my i-touch. I found out was having an evening nap and it was only a dream, never the less a beautiful one.
May be “Stairwells” was to be thanked for the dream or Kina herself.

“…only if dreams would come true”
