Happy YouTube Anniversary!

How long did it take to create the “Message From Your Heart” video entry?
the non-professional one? hmmm… probably about 6 hours. it was my first video ever, i had no idea what i was doing… and as it got later into the night, i started getting weirder ideas to try out (ie the beating heart drawing)…
How long did it take to get your first “random” subscriber?
that’s a great question… i actually don’t know! but i wish i did. probably after i posted the akon cover “don’t matter”
Who are some of your YouTube subscriptions/favorite YouTubers?
oh dear… here we go with favorites again. i keep up with a ton of youtubers and find them all to be quite talented. i could start listing them, but i’d probably forget someone and then feel really awful about it.
When you posted your first video did you imagine that exactly a year later you would be in a studio recording an album with Interscope Records?
hahaha. NO. that’s a funny thought.
Now that it has been discovered, will the punching bag be used?
i think it’s my neighbors so i’ll probably stay off. plus, i remember back in my karate days, punching things always burst a lot of capillaries between my knuckles and made them look all bloody under my skin which creeps me out.

i have to say, seeing so many people emerge out of lurk-dom last week to put in their two-cents about which songs to record… that was pretty awesome. thank you so so much for all of your suggestions. i’ve got a really good idea about what all will go on now! but we’ll try to keep some of it a secret… heh.

hello everyone!!

today was my first day in the studio to record my new album! i can’t believe after months and months of waiting it’s actually happening :) i’ll be in the studio monday through saturday during the month of november. i’m recording with producer rich jacques and i am very excited. today we had some fun with “stars falling down”. it’s pretty crazy… haha.

speaking of the album– i really really really would love your opinions. nowadays a standard album is 10-13 songs… which is not nearly enough. :( some of my songs, unfortunately, will not make the cut. so my question for all of you– what are the top 5 songs YOU would like on the album (not counting songs that are on any of my previous 3 cds)??

would it help if i listed some songs? here are some– but not all– of the possibilities, just to get your brain working. if you have a favorite that i didn’t list, please don’t hesitate to put it on your top 5! sometimes i forget about songs….

a word of warning– since during the month of november i will be in the studio mon-sat from early until late oclock, and sundays will be spent training for the marathon, sleeping, and catching up on other normal life obligations (grocery shopping, saying hello to my parents, cleaning…) you might notice that i become a little more scatter-brained, a little less creative in the blogs, and a little less responsive to emails, comments, etc. it is not because i don’t care!! once the album is done i should become a little more human again. i promise to keep you all looped in on things and show you clips from time to time.

My weekend in SF- the marathon and new friends :)

so i am finally walking like a normal person again. thank goodness!

i have been so moved by the Team in Training experience– the training, the people, the cause, the marathon– that i have decided to do it again! this time i will be a mentor on the West Los Angeles Team for the LA Marathon! the marathon is feb. 16th and the season actually begins this saturday with a big kickoff event and the first practice is sunday. if you or your friends are in the west los angeles area and are interested in participating on my team, let me know and i can get more information to you. you have about three weeks left if you want to join! it is a challenge both physically and mentally, and…well… monetarily as well… but it is totally worth it :)

generally, unless it’s a hill or speed workout. then the athletically-induced asthma kicks in and i turn wheezy :(
