yo! help out a friend if you have the chance–
Travis Seppala created “best of friends” for a film contest about love. check out his short and vote!

listen carefully at the end of the short and you’ll hear my song “protect her”

well first off, i just wanted to say that it’s been so cool for me to read through all of your answers in the last post for that little question-tagging game that went on. i vote for a giant joint birthday party for everyone!

secondly, thank you all so much for all of the street team suggestions! the are awesome! i’ve been slow to get started on all that this week because i have a friend in town from canada for 10 days and i never get to see her, BUT, i promise to get back to work once things are back to normal.

also, word on the street is that perhaps someday in the near future we may be approaching the day where there might possibly be a forum on the site. maybe.

today i hung out in manhattan beach! so pretty, but now i feel all sunned-out and salty and tired.

oh! correction– i know for a while there the 30th show was at room 5, but now it’s free and at usc’s ground zero!

i heart you all.

@nottaclue2
thank you for your story!! that is incredibly cute.
@misa
call me back!

regina’s “samson” is just one of the most beautiful songs ever. i almost covered it one week, but i was afraid i might not do it justice so i just let it be.
@oovret
Why do you tie your guitar strap to the neck instead of using the strap peg?
- it seems to slide less for some reason, it always ends up at the wrong angle when i use the peg. plus i like my guitars pretty :)
What kind(gauge, etc) of guitar strings do you use?
- varies depending whether my guitar is standard or tuned down
How many rugby matches did you watch in NZ?
- one
How often do you surf?
- i’ve only surfed about 4 times ever :( fun though!
How many miles have you driven your car?
- oh my. a good many, though i don’t know off hand.
How long will your hair stay straight?
- it’s gone! it really only lasts until it gets washed.

my nose hurts.

so, i think i might be coming down with a cold. AGAIN. for like the 10th time in the last 12 months. i usually never ever get sick. i feel so weak and pathetic! i plan on killing it as soon as i get to bed tonight though. arg!

regarding tervoo, wikipedia, and other interviewish type things i’ve done in the past (and will likely do in the future)–
while i am very flattered to know that some people want to know details about me such as relationship status, religious views, political stances, etc, these are all things that are very personal to me and very separate from what i want my music to be heard as. of course, all of these things naturally influence my songwriting because they influence my life, but it is through my songs that i choose to share them with the world, ambiguous as this may be at times. i also wanted to thank you all for being so understanding about this issue in the past. i just thought i’d address this here before it’s brought up again, i didn’t want you to think i was ignoring it.

i’m thinking there is an amazing street team amidst us… a real force to be reckoned with…
i’ve decided (with the help of a few bloggers’ urging) that it’s time to stop waiting on the “bigger” people to help me. yes, in time it’d be great to really be pushed by the big industry machines, but right now, we can totally do this without them. everything so far as been without them, yeah? so, sometime soon i’d love to have a real street team, but first we just need to figure out how to have the greatest one ever– so please if you have ideas or suggestions, let me know. we can discuss on here or you can email me at kina@kinagrannis.com. once all that is settled, i can send you all super exciting packages in the mail, name my first-born child after you, etc., and then we can get to work and begin spreading awkward kina-love all across the world.

i wish you could have had some of my grapes tonight. mmm!!

heart,
me.

tervoo?

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

hey all–

anyone heard of tervoo before? basically it allows for publicly created interviews. so you add the questions you have, people vote, and the most popular questions actually get asked. cool, eh? of course, most of you all on here have prob already asked and had answered any questions you had… haha… but i thought i’d extend the invite!

last night’s show at hotel utah was sooooo fun!! it just felt like a big happy gathering of lovely people. a lot of my good friends made it out in addition to some family members and a TON of new people (who were awesome!) thanks to everyone that made it out. can’t wait to come back to san francisco.

in other news, i am extremely tired, and i am about to begin an 7 hour car trip back home. see, the problem is that i start to fall asleep after the first 20 minutes of my commute from OC to LA… eek. good thing i have emi with me for 5 of the hours. the other two hours i’ll be slapping myself and blasting music and periodically stopping at gas stations to purchase super vile tasting energy drinks that may or may not actually affect me at all. :)

still working on getting the store online for the shirts! well… still thinking about working on it, i suppose. i should just buckle down and figure it out this week.

i think everyone in this blog community should get awards for being super cool.

heart,
kina

**We interrupt this blog to bring you this important announcement**

Dear ace (and anyone else who feels the need to be disrespectful in the comment threads),

I wish I could attribute your attitude in your recent comments to a mean april fool’s joke, but if I can’t, then gee, I don’t know what to say. Honesty is always appreciated, but nastiness is never necessary, especially in a community like this. We’re all here because we support Kina and her music, and there’s no room here for people who feel the need to resort to your type of behavior and language. You’re free to express your opinions, but we reserve the right to keep this blog a friendly place, and the ability to delete comments we feel not only detract from but that damage that atmosphere comes part and parcel with that right. If you plan on staying true to your word and canceling your fandom because your latest comment was deleted, so be it, I’m sure Kina’ll be sad to lose you but in the end this board will be a better place for it. If you can’t be mature enough to respect Kina and the rest of this community in your comments then your presence is no longer welcomed here.

As Thumper said, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say nothing at all.”
