white nectarines

oy!! finally! i am so so sorry it took me so long to get the video up today! note to self: check whether you’ve posted a song already BEFORE engaging in hours of video editing…. haha. i am a smart one.

so last week i played a benefit concert at UCR that supported this great program called “Gawad Kalinga.” i shared the stage with youtube stars olivia thai, chris cendana, and our very own emceemiko (who totally rocked and had the whole crowd singing along with him/laughing with him/getting moved by his words). it was a truly beautiful event. everyone i met during the night was amazing. it was really an honor to be a part of the festivities and to meet all the great people that came out to support. miko, chris, aj, it was SUCH a pleasure to spend some time with all of you!! i had so much fun.

here’s the featured cover of the week– Zimplemeh playing “stay just a little” on the piano. JEEZ.

and i’m totally going to start taking pictures of the crowd at my shows because it is just one of the happiest things for me to look at. so many faces :) i should probably take a wider shot next time.

(this pic is courtesy of my buddy matt, he let me borrow his camera since i was ill-prepared for the job)

oovret’s Qs of the week:
re: potatoes– i like all my veggies roasted best
What has been your most thrilling and fun experience, not involving SB XLII? hmmm.. thrilling? probably jumping out of a plane.
What is the most exotic food you have eaten? maybe jellyfish or fermented egg.
What is the furthest distance you have run? i think back in my cross country days i did an 11 miler. oof. that will have to more than double.

@ronald distor
yay! so happy you enjoyed the show :)

@sabafa

    OK… I’ll take 1st. This is probably the only time I’ll be online when you post. I could’ve lived with a 2nd rendition of “Too Soon”, that’s one of my top favorites, but thanks for doing the new recording anyway. Great as always.

    Oh, and CHOCOLATES? Here’s a new one for ya… Trader Joe’s CONCERTO, 70% Dark Chocolate Baton. Don’t tell Emi.

    ;-)

    Loved what you did with the shout-outs this time… very ingenious.

    P.s. Next time, just ask the pool-guy if he wants to sing backup.

    Hi, I’m new here. In fact, I’m a blog virgin…(third and last time I will try to post this). I am also an over-the-hill ex-musician who gave up music eons ago to pursue a career in product design. Last weekend, I stayed in Manhattan while my office was being moved when my wife and 5 1/2 year old daughter went to our weekend house. So I had the rare chance to be home alone on a Saturday night. While watching a few music clips on Youtube, I came across your postings for the first time and was immediately mesmerized by your voice and incredible story. You totally woke me up musically, and I found myself awake at 4:00 a.m. watching your videos and getting all teary eyes when I watched your family reaction to your super bowl airing.

    I was so impressed, I could not wait to show my family your videos when they got home. My wife was quite impressed as well. When my daughter, Amanda, watched you sing, she said, “She must be having so much fun!” We adopted Amanda from China when she was 13 months old. And she was showing some musical talent almost immediately. She is a total tom boy and wants to be a boy. I am so glad she now has a ‘girl’ role model! Just for fun, I posted a video of Amanda on Youtube as a respond to your video on Monday (thanks for the comment). We are rooting for you all the way to superstardom.

    p.s. I ordered all three of your CDs from your website. If you are still mailing them out yourself, it would be great if you could sign one of them for Amanda! Thanks!

    Running Away, one of the top 5 greatest Kina songs ever in my library of music. Any Kina song can be done again by Kina and she would put a new twist on it to make it even better and more impressive that the original recording. Basically I envy every talent Kina has and am ashamed my disability to do the things she can haha. The stay just a little cover by Zimplemeh was awesome, his name got me thinking and the only thing I could take out of his name is it is suppost to say something like “Simply me”. Anyway great song and I am already excited for next Monday.(I hate waiting, I need to build a time machine so I can fast forward time like in Click). Also, Yes I can finally post on this great blog now too haha, thank you Misa, and all others who helped to fix the blog.
