oovret: Week 20
How many hours do you spend playing the guitar each week?
not enough! some days i don’t even get around to playing… it’s very bad of me. i’d like to play an hour a day. and since i just said it to the blog– it’s official!! i shall! an hour a day. now i’ll be held accountable.
Do you yodel?
nope! but i did give it a shot in the car last week. it was scary.
Which team do you think(guess) will win the Superbowl this season?
if only i could recall the name of a football team off the top of my head…
Since the start of your marathon training, about how many miles have you run?
308 miles
Do you cook or “eat out” more often?
i eat in most of the time, though i don’t know that what i eat would be considered cooking. it’s another goal of mine to start cooking more though. like legit interesting cooking, not throwing stuff together.
@coffee
you’re right… it’s time to play the uke again. i’ll try to figure something out.

September 15th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
hey kina, you ever try gourmet peanut butter from http://www.pbloco.com? they have some funky mixes but I recommend the white chocolate raspberry peanut butter!
September 15th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
Great song. I wish I could be at the benefit, even though USC destroyed our beloved Bucks. A cookie AND a Kina smoothie?! Deal.
So close to the goal!
September 16th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Yay video!
I’m looking forward to the benefit show! I like it when I know exactly where my money is going when I spend it, and it’s a plus when I know it’s going to a good cause.
So I went to give blood at a school blood drive, only my iron was too low, so the lady that did the iron test told me to eat peanut butter to raise it. It certainly tasted better than vitamins.
P.S.
*belated awkward highfive*
September 16th, 2008 at 12:11 am
oh no! i forgot about the benefit concert. i will be in loma linda for that evening to accompany a friend. i should’ve said no!
September 16th, 2008 at 12:36 am
Excellent cover!
I finally borrowed that guitar and you know the second night I was practicing I broke a string trying to tune it. Suffice it to say that I have to improve my ear for solid notes … and get an electronic tuner.
Lastly, I will be driving down to the benefit concert. ROAD TRIP! It is not option to miss something like this. I had the time so I thought why not.
If anyone needs a ride from the SF Bay, send me an email.
September 16th, 2008 at 1:08 am
ha! i knew you couldn’t go that long without making a video including you eating something full of deliciousity.
you already know what i think of what your doing, so no need. you’re just awesome. you are a gentlewoman and a scholar. wish i could be at the show!
September 16th, 2008 at 3:56 am
We’re holding you to your promise Kina, and NO NO NO YOU CANNOT SAY YOU WERE KIDDING. ONCE YOU ARE A BILLIONAIRE, WE ARE ALL GETTING PRIVATE JETS. AND THERE WILL BE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES and so help me god, if they are not warm, I have NO qualms with sticking someone. Seriously though, once you’re a millionaire, we all expect first class tickets on a commercial airline, with hotel lodging, a private show, and I’d like to meet your sisters, because they are gorgeous. I don’t know what went wrong with you. Beautiful cover k, as always. Um, also, 308 miles? You’re not human. I happen to be from the school of thought that believes that we are born with a set number of heartbeats and you, miss, have used up at least a year’s worth. Sort of poetic, that. I think you’ve used up a years worth of ours, too. Ten years, for me.
September 16th, 2008 at 4:54 am
One of my favorite songs!!! Yay!!! — It’s not even 8am in NYC and now I want a warm chocolate chip cookie … and a smoothie … and well, a personal chef, too! — I love to cook! I’ll teach you some things =) — I’m still trying to decided on a disease to focus my grad school work on. I’ve started to read up on blood cancers … maybe you’ll be raising money for my research! … Run Kina Run!
(I used too many exclamation points. Only on text can I be that happy and peppy in the morning. Where’s my coffee?)
September 16th, 2008 at 8:19 am
Yet again, another lovely cover!
Thank you Kina for inspiring me to do something for cancer research. I’ve decided I shall start running for my grandma who had Leukemia. Thank you very much =).
September 16th, 2008 at 10:30 am
I make the same squinty wink when I talk about my mom’s cancer. Interesting to see it on someone else for such a similar topic. A great cause indeed, I can’t wait for the show. Any news on how early we can pick up tickets. I don’t mean to sound fanatical just don’t want to miss out…. actually come to think of it does fan come from fanatical. I guess I am fanatical.
September 16th, 2008 at 11:55 am
@ Yohan
Bucks? As in OSU Buckeyes?! If so, hecks yeah! :highfive!: Even though they did get stomped on…
@ Kina
I too wish I could go, but I’m in Ohio and cannot. And the private jet? If only.
September 16th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
lol Kina is the special guest David?
it wudnt surprise me
i hope that airline dream becomes real!
wonderful cover agen, cant wait 4 new albums
September 16th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
@ZiMP… so BRING THE FRIEND!
:-p
@Yohan… Ohio fan? You know, not to diss, but I kept reading articles beforehand saying how Buckeye-fandom was on a whole other level of rabidity and committment. But with 21-3 at halftime, many of the Ohio fans around us left and never came back… I dunno, but if I spent that much $$$ on game and plane tix, I’d be staying the whole game no matter what. Actually, I stay for the whole game, every game, anyhow… as do the people who rode with me. :-D
September 16th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Timothy Reuscher=just TimR (my name just looks way too formal for that list, in a “One of these things is not like the other…” sort of way). But no need to thank since, like lots of others here, I can’t make it to the benefit. I hope you tick off the fire marshal with too many people showing up!
And I’m loving “Ours to Keep.” Hurray Samurai Girl for finally giving the chance to buy it! You could use a “Song-ography” or “Discography” page for all the songs you have out that aren’t available via your site.
September 16th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
kiiiiinaa i love the video!
September 16th, 2008 at 6:05 pm

September 16th, 2008 at 8:44 pm

i liked this cover, beautiful singing btw!
September 16th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
yay thank you kina! my birthday was so much fun, and now i’m legal!! :)
loved the song. wish i could come. and wish i had money to give, i’m a poor college student, but i will try to give something later this week, since i really should be working then going to bed tonight.
September 16th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
kina+cello+drums+emi+?= can hardly wait for the show
hmm… why are we all not billionaires. we could take our own jets to all your shows? haha
i’d like to be the first to apply for the personal chef job.. i’ll email you my resume…:) and- real cooks throw stuff together, creativity at work….
i’m thinking that last comment on the video was no coincidence… but i shouldn’t be so presumptuous.
September 16th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
alas i have FINALLY gotten back to my dorm room to check kina’s blog!
loved the cover of course!
i feel so bad that im not in socal anymore to support the cause cuz i’d totally make it out (and set aside my trojan animosity just for you). but yeah i’ve returned to Notre Dame for another year of schooling…and though i shouldnt be complaining, it still makes me sad cuz i cant see you live for a while :( ……..hmmm if you have a show during winter break………you KNOW id be there lol
well im gonna do my part even tho i cant make it to the show—look out for an envelope from me with my ten dollars and maybe you might get some little Notre Dame goodies in there too :)
<3
September 16th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Have a great show! Can’t wait to enjoy one in person.
@Tanya Notre Dame is good. Purdue better but I can’t knock our city to the North.
September 16th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
This isn’t necessarily about the blog, but the peanut butter cameo at the end and the latest twitter made me think of this one time when my friend, her friend, and I went to the movies a few years ago.
We had decided to go see a movie, and for some reason we were super early. We agreed to go the super market that was near the theater to get some snacks. Now when they said “let’s get some snacks” I assumed we’d be leaving with some Red Vines, and maybe some junior mints.
We left with four green apples, an apple slicer, a jar of chunky peanut butter, and three Dr. Peppers, all of which we managed to smuggle in thanks to my friend’s friend’s HUGE bag.
I don’t remember what movie we saw, but I do remember that using an apple sliver in a movie theater is a little tough, and not very subtle.

This is great. I love Iron and Wine. My life would be complete if you did a cover of the Trapeze Swinger.
I’d love to come to one of your gigs one day but unless you come over to the UK I doubt I’ll ever make it!
Keep up the good work etc xx
September 17th, 2008 at 6:32 am
@ Mel my finger–
Wow, that peanut butter looks pretty amazing. Too bad there’s a peanut over New York but not actually a café there! I’d buy some online but I”m afraid I’d start tricking myself into thinking it’s plain peanut butter and then eating waaaaay too much of the pb+dark chocolate or pb+chocolate chip cookie dough and then gaining about 50 pounds.
September 17th, 2008 at 6:34 am
@Matthew (and Kina)–
I agree, Trapeze Swinger=A+++
Also He Lays In The Reins.

oovret: Week 21
What toppings do you like on your pizza?
How many times have you seen David Choi smile?
What is your average daily caloric intake?
What was your favorite meal that you cooked this week?
Did you play the guitar for at least an hour everyday this week?

Oovret: I’m really loving these questions. Nice job :)
September 21st, 2008 at 9:56 am
@LeeAnn & Misa
Yep, PB&Co is really the only place i know that has specialty fun sandwiches, with different, always awesome, PB&J ingredients every couple of weeks. We should take a trip!!
