@brandy
welcome to the blog :) hope to make it out to australia sometime soon!!
@emi (the one that isn’t my sister…)
i definitely plan to come play in japan someday!
@eleo casil
guam!? i’d love to :)
@aeglos and letty
i’ll do my best to put a little more kina in my videos. it’s hard trying to find a balance… it seems like every time i talk i end up with a bunch of youtube comments like, “stop talking! it bores me! i’d rather hear you sing!”.. haha. and then i get scared and back off a little. but i’ll try to do more.
@finnfan
thank you for the advice :)

    yayy love the song of course, im glad i stayed up late for your video
    21 miles? dude im in awe of you. seriously.

    oh! i wanted to tell you! though your feat is way cooler than mine (of running a marathon) but i joined the women’s boxing club here at ND (the ONLY women’s boxing club in colleges bahaha) and all the money we raise for our fight night goes directly to missions in East Africa (help fund schools, pay for food, etc) so thats my little humanitarian effort :) you should see the crazy arm muscles i have now tho, it’s quite the hysterical sight

    have a great week and have fun in the sun in socal! :D

    Tanya

  3. Amy Says:

    third?! :D kina, i want to go running with you and relive our x-country days!!! i ran for the first time in a while this evening close to where i now live. you would love it — it’s like the wilderness park and ocean combined. i miss you!

  4. Eleo Casil Says:

    You should so do a song on the Ukulele! haha That would be awesome!

  5. Aeglos Says:

    I mean, I guess you can’t please everyone, but…youtube comments? Seriously? That’s whose influence deprives us of the full joy of Kina? Here Kina, anytime you’re considering responding to such a comment, or they say mean things, or somesuch, click on one of the following links

    http://www.xkcd.com/481/
    http://www.xkcd.com/202/

    Also, I hope the ink didn’t wash off, because I’m amused at the thought of you having to explain to people you encounter in your everyday life that the lists on your arms are names and handles of friends and online fans made for your blog.

    Pretty song. Have to go look up the lyrics now.

  6. Yohan Says:

    gorgeous

    you’re a bionic running machine!

  7. Ken Says:

    Beautiful cover! That song is very soothing. Congratulations on accomplishing a 21 mile run and on your performance at the Caruther’s fair as well!
    As for the comment regarding being told to stop talking, why would you listen to them? Part of your appeal is how you are able to express yourself through your music and beyond. The moments you talk really allow your fans to help connect with you and actually strengthen the appeal. If that is something you want to do and like to do, then go ahead and do it. There is an option to stop playing the video for those who don’t want to hear you talk so there really is no reason for them to post those pointless comments. Go ahead and be yourself! After all, that is why you have such dedicated fans!
    There I go rambling again. Well, keep doing what you’re doing because it’s obviously working.

  8. Stephen Says:

    Now that I know you’re a Matt Wertz fan, I fully expect you to do a cover right away.

  9. Code2mind Says:

    another great song.. and yes.. talk more in your videos.. who cares what others say… theres always one person that will never be happy.. :) congrats on the 21 miles.. almost there… have a wonderful week and stay lovely as always..

  10. sabafa Says:

    @Kina

    I’ve reread your palm (:copy being rushed to Gypsy Rose Lee for thorough investiguestimation:) and what is revealed to me in the sub(lol)text is that you needed to hydrate more! Therefore, perhaps, it wasn’t the chocolate that caused the headache:)

    SoO0, maybe you’d find it fun to drink more water before you eat chocolate next time your skin looks like that just to see how much extra chocolate you can consume until another one is triggered - just to confirm the lack of logic in doing so of course;) but, except for the water, this is soO0 not recommended for diabetics!

    Anyway, was the get well David Choi a reference to:-

    something serious
    his chemical video
    you maybe broke your fall on him

  11. wwar1ace Says:

    @Kina… Of COURSE your shoulders are sore. For 21 miles, who do you think was holding up your ARMS? A little hint to avoid a lot of soreness: work out again today (not running, for Pete’s-sake), just something light to get the blood flowin’. Try swimming.

    And a headache from too much chocolate? There’s gotta be a good side to that… What’s your current poison-of-choice? I’m trying to work through one of those TJ’s Palettes right now (got the Papua New Guinea here with me).

  12. Potato Says:

    Kina,
    I can’t breath and have piercing pains througout my body after a 1/4 mile. I hate your perky running…

    Call me.

  13. Emi.T(from Japan) Says:

    First of all, I love your weekly updates. It keeps you really well connected to your fans!

    Second, even though your original songs are amazing (!!), I would really love to hear a CD with you doing only covers. E.g. we can vote on which songs to go on the record either here or on youtube or something?

    Oh, and I am going to buy your CD’s, I just need to pay my electrical bill first…wait…my CD player runs on batteries…nevermind the bill then!!

  21. Lizzy Vaz Says:

    Hola,

    Could you sing/play something in spanish? That would be awesome.
    You’re great.

  22. FinnFan Says:

    Very relaxing performance. And thank you for acknowledging (hope that´s the right word?) my little advice. So nice of you, made me happy.

    I´d like to hear about the process of how you make your songs. Do you usually get your ideas first in a form of melody, or lyrics? Does the song usually just “come to you” or do you sometimes have to struggle to get it right? Do you have to wait for an inspiration before you can start composing, or can you just sit down anytime and start working? Do you usually make one song ready and then move on to the next one, or do you have several unfinished songs you´re working with at the same time? How long does it take for you to finish a song? Have you any finished a song, and decided that it´s not good enough and thrown it away? Etc…

    I´m sure many of your fans would be thrilled to hear about your ways of working… maybe in your video, sometimes in the future..?

  23. sabafa - unless poorly received Says:

    @Mama G

    Tis good that she has two then d:P

    Maybe Kina should think about doing a 2 for 1 swop so that she can at least get a hand massage ;)

    Oh, and if she strikes lucky on swop day, it might be for one that’s too large to sneak off into her guitar whilst she’s filming/playing for us:)

    Plus, if it were one that was hard to let go of, python for example, she could just keep it’s fed with rattlers so that she can then have extra fun in training it to do the accompaniment 8)

  24. Tiarenar Says:

    ur rite Kina, wen it comes to music time does not exist. I’m always reli annoyed wen I get interrupted in the middle of a jam, its like ive fallen back down to Earth

    Wowy good job on the run! Hehe I like the burning feeling while running but not so much the soreness afterward. Then again, the soreness tells you that you are getting somewhere!

    Wow, I love how Kina is able to do covers and never ever disappoint <3 Go Kina!

  29. Poon Says:

    in response to the “@aeglos and letty” part of ur post,

    forget those people who get bored of your talking, or…maybe just talk after you play. cause a def attraction to your vids was your casual nature, laughing with ur sis, and just you being you, real.

    anyways, keep making music, hope you make it big, come to chicago sometime. payce!

  30. Glenn Says:

    ouch on the hand with the scraped skin and all…
    I am glad it did not affect your guitar playing.

    Go Kina, 21 miles is awesome! I don’t think I have ever run that far. I am inspired to do more running now.

    Being a celebrity sounds tough, so much coming at you from all directions I would guess. In all the hubbub, I suppose being true to yourself can be hard particularly if you wear your heart on your sleeve. That is why I love vacations and travelling. ;-)

  31. s a b a f a : ) Says:

    @ Tiarenar

    I’d like to say yes to knowing Kina personally, so ‘yes’ (:there I did it = victorious:)) - but no, the truth is ):undeniably:(( not that good and I expect that my life as a consequence (except possibly at menstruation times) will be the poorer for it and less good than a preyed on, out of puff, tragically aneamic, non hissing, limbless and almost blood-less, horny backed toad’s life expectancy at the eye-ball blood squirting time of being under attack, but that’s probably true for bazillions anyway! So, yeh, just the usual position for a fan to be in;)

    How about yourself? From the blisters Kina must be getting by now from answering you, you’re not exactly left for dead like that horny, toad faced, lizard, and, unlike my experience here, I haven’t spotted you being pulled up for posting without strictly sticking to using the Queen’s English, so you’re almost golden in comparrison, but as for being ignored, that seems to be pretty standard stuff in my other experiences here - other than the fabulous Grannis family sometimes being kind enough to, hope this doesn’t change that by the way - so perhaps you shouldn’t feel put out by that sort of stuff, although, you should know that a comment’s is not always posted by the person’s icon that is displayed with it(;lol;)

    Oh, by the way, no need to answer the same question you asked of me, as despite my answering yours for Kina’s sake and whom is - once again - seriously not guilty of knowing me personally, I like my privacy and advise that you hold on to your own within the internet!

  32. Hannah Says:

    hello :)
    I was cruising around youtube and eventually stumbled onto your music. And now I’m hooked. I feel like the stuff you right is right up my alley. Your lyrics are very well written and poignant.. and you’re also way creative. I mean, Message From Your Heart.. a song written in the point of view of the heart? That’s awesome. I bought one of your CDs on iTunes. I’ve recently been reading about how artists get, like, 9 cents per dollar on iTunes music. Is that true in your case? I’m thinking about getting another of your albums and will get if off of your website if there’s a significant difference in the amount you get.

    other than that, umm.. I’m very impressed about the marathon thing. I trained for a 5k and that was a challenge. It takes a lot of dedication.

    Anyway, that’s about it. You just really sorta came through as authentic and very relatable to me, so I wanted to say hi. I wish you all the best and I’ll be back here to read your blog :)
