be wise.

disturbia- rihanna cover

ha! and you thought i was growing out of my weirdness….

first you should know that i just rolled over my toe while sitting in my chair. don’t worry though, i only silent-screamed. no broken bones :)

so today was the most intense day of blogging in the history of kina blogging. for some reason i woke up at 7:30, which was completely not the plan at all, but i felt great so i decided to go with it. i made myself some chai tea and sat out on the porch for a few minutes to take in that lovely morning feeling.

then i came inside to embark on what i thought would be an ordinary blog day.

11 hours later, i exported my video from imovie.

i must admit that it was extremely fun to create. i hope that you all can find some enjoyment in watching it, too. it was really a challenge to try to make this song my own. and while i know it doesn’t sound like “kina” right off the bat, it is, just a smaller part of me. for those anti-autotune-ists out there, i generally agree. it’s frustrating when auto-tune is used to make a non-singer sound like beyonce, but when it’s used for effect, like with imogen heap, i think it can be a beautiful thing.

i recorded the track on garageband first. then i started filming who knows what and eventually i ended up with enough footage to splice up. yay!

oof my body feels bad. my coaches have been telling us that when you start tapering (running less miles) after the 21 miler to recover for the marathon your body just goes whack. that it gets so used to all the mileage that when it doesn’t have it it just starts to freak out. cold symptoms, weird body aches, inability to sleep, random things. interesting, eh? you’d think my body would be jumping for joy.

ok, time to lie down. sorry it took so long!

heart,
kina

oovret: Week 23

Do you prefer hot or cold sandwiches?
both!
hot– my mom’s beef dip sandwich, which is completely unlike any beef dip you’ve ever had, and a million times more delicious.
OR
chicken pesto panini from Il Tramezzino in beverly hills…. ahhhh.
cold– turkey, avocado, sprouts, tomato, a little mayo and mustard… mmmm
What is your high score in bowling?
oh the shame. i don’t actually know, but i guarantee it’s lower than you’ve ever done.
Would you like to travel in outer space?
yes i think it’d be amazing. i don’t think i’d go though if it meant never seeing the people i love again…. you know, like some crazy space trek that would last hundreds of years in earth-time, but only 10 for me, and when i came back everyone would be gone. that’d be sad.
Do you subscribe to any periodicals?
i should.
What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
Vicky Cristina Barcelona– it was very very very good.

@hannah!
welcome to the blog! i’m so glad that you’re enjoying my music :) as far as itunes vs. straight from my website, the difference isn’t HUGELY significant, BUT, if you buy it from my website, i have an excuse to write you a note, which is fun for me. up to you!
@TanyaMcavany
ahh that’s great that you might join TNT! it’s been such an awesome experience. i’m actually thinking of staying on for next season as a mentor :) and patty griffin=amazing. good idea.

Code2mind: Thought you were going to bed! Guess it got posted just in the nick of time, eh?
That was so much fun! Good thing the room mates are at work all day. They may have looked at you askance….

    Just tieing loose ends…

Hey Kina, I would love to play some music with you… i really dont think your songs need any percussion, they´re perfect the way they are… but, as a percussionist, i´ll stay tuned to see if find one that i can download and add some bongoes or something

    cheers

  5. Austin Says:

Kina!! this is freaking sweet!!! haha i loved it

  6. nimur Says:

well i’m glad you had fun. it would be sad if you started to dread mondays because you felt obligated to “work”…

auto-tune… is that what effect that was. i was thinking it was some mix of chorus/tremlo/reverb. thats interesting now that i think about it… i do use chorus/reverb to try and make people sound good even though they dont.

i like the video thumbnail. is that why theres a minute of black at the end?

@mama g- so whats in that beef dip of yours?

  7. dro or ryan Says:

agreed on the autotune. when too many people have access to it, some people can “mis”, “over”, or “ab” use it. imogen heap does beautiful things. me.. i use it when i’m bored =)

    u did well.

  8. Christopher YM Says:

looks like you spent awhile on this video.

    love it

i’m pretty sure toenails grow back though, it’ll just take awhile

  9. Travis Says:

    cool video, kina!
I especially like your little guest star there. he’s cool.

  10. deana Says:

ah, 11 hours well spent! too much fun :)

kina, thanks for the shout out. family makes it all worth it.

  11. Yohan Says:

I really loved the video! Embrace the weirdness! Haha. It was the worth the effort.

Dexter is an awesome show. I hope it was just a bump in the night.

    Condolences to your toenails.

  12. J.C. Says:

Ouch! Hope your toes get better…

Whenever I hear the autotune I think of Cher…Ah! “Do you believe in love after love?” Ughhh! I’m getting the chills. However, I thought this music video was great and entertaining! :P I enjoyed watching/listening to it…

lol also got a flash back of the “Rhythm is a Dancer” video…(~4:05)

  13. Glenn Says:

Amazing! Great video, the candles in the hallway jarred some memories in me… scary. Also, the waking up and hearing noises all of a sudden reminded of sleep paralysis, not sure if you ever experienced that. It can sometimes be quite scary too.

Long ago I lost a couple of toenails to soccer… one of the battlescars of running. No worries, they will grow back soon enough.

  14. Tiarenar Says:

lol i can never get enough weirdness, and i honestly think that u hav a better voice than Rihanna anyway, u r amazing
the video was reli cute, and ur funny faces made me laugh, u reli entertained me
    cant wait for next week!

p.s. sorry 2 hear bout ur toenails

  15. Cassie:) Says:

That cover was straight up baller.
I’m looking forward to next week!

ps. ahhh. i really want to see vicky cristina barcelona!

  16. k Says:

as i wake up at 2am from my “nap”, i’m pleasantly surprised to see such a creative and entertaining video and song. Congratulations on a job well done Kina! This video has quickly moved to one of my top 5 favorite Kina videos. I totally curled my foot in phantom pain as I read about you rollling over your toe. Oh BTW - like a Pavlovian dog, my mouth started salivating when I read about the Mama G beef dip sandwich :-p. Have a great week Kina, thanks for the entertainment as always!

    -k

  17. Elina Says:

This is one of the coolest covers you have ever done! Your music style is so pretty and you did it beautifully…your videos just get more and more creative! I loved it, and it’s funny because I’ve had this song stuck in my head for the past two weeks. You’re amazing, with or without autotune, but I really think it added a cool effect here..

    Good luck on your marathon!!!

    <3
    Elina

p.s. Could you please give a shoutout to my friend Princess Masilungan on your next video? She would LOVE that. Thanks!

  18. Nicky Says:

    Hi Kina,

I don’t like the Rihanna song at all, but the version you made out of it actually feels a lot more fragile than the original and carries more feeling with it. At least that’s how I experience it. Needless to say I like the cover, and I was suprised at the sudden turn of style. The autotune works for this song, no doubt about it. And just using a guitar is what gives your version more depth.

    Cool vid!

  19. Aeglos Says:

    This was different.

And a lot of fun :) Yay for keeping things fresh and awesome. Good show, lass.

And, while I’m not sure i could’ve told you any other lyric of the song when prompted, I thought that most frequent line was “stir it up”, not “disturbia”. Kina is fun and educational!

  20. Jen... Says:

    That was awesome Kina!

I loved it. Very creative. Great work.

  21. FinnFan Says:

So good - singing and video alike. I´ve been following your videos now for three weeks, and every time you´ve come up with something completely different - a sign of a true artist. I couldn´t be more impressed by you. Well… maybe if you, in addition to your existing talents, were also a brain surgeon, a nuclear scientist, and a super hero going around in disguise, saving people´s lives… maybe then I´d be even more impressed… or then again, maybe not: there are limits to my comprehension :)

  22. Paid for in Dollar Coins Says:

    Greatest video ever ^.^

  23. BunniChylde/Amanda Says:

:) I really enjoyed the extra music-video like of it. And the song of course! The entire video was awesome! I can hear it going in the background as Paid for in Dollar Coins is playing it again. Keep up the good work, and good luck with your toes and toenails…Between rolling over your toes and losing toenails to the running…you may need a pedicure or foot massage or something to make it up to your feet!

  24. maryanne Says:

Haha that was fun =). Great cover and video as always Kina!

Funny, I always did the same thing when I was little too. Whenever I heard something at night I would just stay still, look around for a heavy thing to throw and like pray the thing would go away.. or I’d just quietly sing myself to sleep hehe.

@J.C.- that reminded me of the “Rhythm is a Dancer” video too.

Anyways, have a great rest of the week everyone and take care!

  25. Steve K Says:

Great Vid! You definitely made the song your own with the randomness and the autotune. Hope things are going well

    -steve

  26. Ronald Distor Says:

    Kina!
Your version of Disturbia puts the right kind of emotion into the song. I listened to the original after hearing yours, and I still prefer yours! <3

I thought the video was really cute and it seemed like you had so much fun making it!

  27. benfromcanada Says:

Are you going to announce the winners of the contest on one of your videos or on the blahg at some point? I mean, I announced the winners, but, I think they’d appreciate you mentioning them

  28. S0O NOT sabafa Says:

    @ Kina

    RE 3AM INTRUSION

Hope you carried out the golden rule of moving in to a new residence - always change the locks (if you have the right to) so that you are the only key holder for sure and don’t forget that the likes of loft hatches have been used as an easy entry into secure properties too - you may well have experienced intrusion and been lucky that time around, secure the luck out of the equation if you’re allowed to!

    RE NAILS

Also, I remember that you got new shoes, so perhaps they’ve become tight enough whilst running to apply pressure enough to cause your nail problem, this also happens with shoes that have been known to be fine in the past, but have become not so when used within an increased temperature environment and I also remember that you’d mentioned show time changes due to such like, and yes it is true that you will regrow nails, but before these nails go, don’t let any toe poisoning get out of hand, as it could end up with sections of toe being removed instead of just the poison being (ahrm!) induced to come out rather than being allowed to do something even worse = we don’t want to lose you!

    RE SONG

I’ve always disliked that sound, but your use of it managed to get an instant 4 out of me, whereas I begrudged giving a 1 for R’s, yet your’s is still continuing to grow on me, so please pull the video or something, as I’m happy enough being a fan and I don’t wish to slip over into being a sycophant - never have been, never want to be, I’ll try to maintain this by reminding myself that it’s only a cover and conveniently forget about what happened with Umbrella and Marie Digby!

  29. TimR Says:

Watching the vid was so much fun this week! The funny thing was, I think the slower version of the song is actually more “disturbing” (maybe hauting is a better word) than rihanna’s. You could have gone really really dark on that video and it probably would’ve fit. Glad you didn’t though - laughs are always welcome!

And on another topic, I had the same paralyzed feeling after watching the X-files as a kid!

  30. meeks Says:

omg! kina my comment on your youtube video didnt show up!

let me just try to re-write it!

THIS IS THE BEST COVER EVER! HANDS DOWN! OMG. best cover, best video, best everything ever… in terms of covers by everyone.. (cuz i still love ur originals)

you totally outdid EVERYBODY i can ever think of. boyceavenue, mia rose, esmee, etc. this is SO FREAKING AMAZING!!! i cannot get over how amazing this video is!!!

omg, kina i love you, i am in love with you, jk hahaha

WOW - DR G and MAMA G! OMG - you must be speechless, THIS IS THE BEST EVER! hey everyone! in the entire world! this is better than any cover you can do! LOL

    i heart kina
    meeks
p.s. no can hold a candle to you (remember that haha) OMG

  31. Kim H Says:

    Kina!
FIRST THING I HAVE TO SAY IS: ouchies on the toes and the toenails!!! I hope everything gets better with minimum complicatedness :)

The rest of the things I have to say:

you take amazingness to new heights!
that was such a fun video, and I’m starting to find that I like your versions of songs even more than the originals -although your originals are works of sheer brilliance!
I’m starting to run out of adjectives and superlatives, because really there just aren’t enough to go around.
Let’s just say that I’m certain that you could take a song about pebbles and make it the most amazing song/video ever
and if I go on any long I will use the word amazing at least 17 more times. So I’ll just stop right about now.
    You’re cool.
You really have inspired me (script writing/lyrics/writing in general and I’m thinking I’ll suck up the pain and try guitar for the 1564213214564th time=D)
    I heart you.

    The End

  32. blew Says:

Wow this was easily one of the best covers ever. I like this way better than Rihanna’s version, every time that music video comes on it’s like watching a scary movie so I change the channel to cartoon or something non-scary. This could be played on tv as a music video it was so awesome. At first I was nervous because Kina looked a little crazy in the dark. I am utterly amazed at this video. The editing is perfect. *Applause in my chair to Kina*

  33. TimR Says:

You know, I can’t stop listening to this. I’ve watched the video 3 times and listened at least 3 to the MySpace song. I’d really like this on my iPod - like everything else Kina’s done in the past year that’s not for sale :(

  34. wwar1ace Says:

@TimR… X-Files was tame. Try slouching on the couch, watching “Tales From The Dark Side” at 1AM, with no one else home, and a big open window behind you looking out over a dark yard… scared the cr@p outta myself when I was about 14 (on a nightly basis… seems I didn’t learn).

@Meeks… Over-the-top, man. I think you now qualify for that “More Than Happy” status we discussed earlier. ;-)

@Kina… Once again, a great performance. I like that it broadens your scope a little bit.

@Mama G… Did you see Philippe’s had their 100th anniversary yesterday? With 10-cent french-dips, and 5-cent coffee. Tell you what, next time I’ll trade you, musubi for beef-dip.

  35. Meadow Says:

This is one awesome video Kina! I don’t even know how you managed to watch Dexter. Whenever I watched Big Brother After Dark and commericals for it came on I got so freaked out.

  36. code2mind Says:

@ mama g- as soon as i made the post for going to bed.. I saw that Emi had posted of the video being up so went straight to the tube. :)

  37. Mama G Says:

@wwar1ace: I used to be a Philippe’s devotee in college and couldn’t wait to go back. When I took my family there about 5 years ago, I was a little disappointed. But then again, a 10¢ french dip is a great deal… even if it didn’t meet my expectations. I’ll have to figure out the french dip/musubi deal…. the french dip has to be hot out of the oven/off the stove. I’ll have to devise a way to put it together at the last moment. Let me ruminate on that a bit.

  38. Mama G Says:

I will have the good fortune to have all three of my babies with me very soon!!! I’m putting in a request for a Grannis trio video which could be fun!! Stay tuned….

  39. TimR Says:

@wwar1ace: I watched all of those shows back then. Tales from the Dark Side, Tales from the Crypt, the updated Twilight Zone, updated Outer Limits, probably a few more I’m forgetting. Shame there’s not really anything like that out there now.

  40. Misa Says:

How do you know it wasn’t one of your roommates coming home late? Or does stuff not stay open til 3 in LA?

And oh yeah, I forgot that since I’m coming home in a week we’ll have a chance to do another collab! I should bring my Urban dress home so we can be triplets!

  41. Code2mind Says:

ooh.. talk about anniversaries.. just a heads up if you dont already know,
In n Out will have their 60th anniversary on Oct. 22, 25¢ hamburgers 30¢cheeseburgers, 15¢ fries and 10¢ drinks.. :)

  42. Code2mind Says:

hmmn.. let me look more into this In n Out one, i just brought it up to a coworker and he says its fake, and i’ve gotten more than one email/message about it.

  43. Mama G Says:

Kina: What song did you sing at Santa Monica Pier?

  44. Mama G Says:

Code2mind: Dr G and I constantly lament the (SO ARCHAIC/INANE) practice of bride’s parents paying for the wedding (the woes of having 3 daughters) and have joked about hiring the In-n-Out truck to do burgers, fries and shakes for the wedding receptions :D Of course, when you take into consideration all the people who are dairy intolerant, gluten intolerant, hypertensive, vegetarian, watching their weight/cholesterol/etc. it seems like a pretty lame solution :(

  45. Aeglos Says:

Well, MamaG, you win some, you lose some. In my college days I was in love with a Hawaiian girl, and it crossed my mind that the wedding would be kinda a bummer, since no one I know could make the trip, and I’d be left scraping around for groomsmen with a woefully empty side of the church

Though it is interesting that you’ve had matrimony on the mind. Anything to share? If Misa’s getting hitched I’ll be chartreuse with envy; I will never love again (though I may take the liberty of copying her patronus :))

  46. J.C. Says:

@maryanne: Those baby videos are too cute!

@wwar1ace: 10¢? Must have been a huge line. Ever been to Bay Cities Deli in Santa Monica? Gotta try the ‘Godmother’ sandwich…

    Kina had a stickam show?

  47. Mama G Says:

@Aeglos: Ever since they were little we’ve discussed this matter :)

  48. wwar1ace Says:

    @Mama G…. Hire a Musubi-Bar, made for your guests by-request.

  49. Misa Says:

No weddings here, thanks, but I’m flattered. ;)

Ooooooh now I wanna reread Harry Potter.

  50. wwar1ace Says:

    How random. :-]

  51. angloman Says:

Such a shame, I haven’t been here for ages!
Kina, I love your new video. I don’t know what is better a video or a cover?
I look up to you! I mean it must be hard to run so many miles all the time, but you still do it. That’s wonderful! I pray to God for more people like you.

  52. Glenn Says:

@Mama G …. your comment about the bride’s parents paying for the wedding reminded me of jokes I had with my parents about them not having to pay for any weddings. To put that in context, I have 2 older brothers and one younger one… so they always had a chuckle about that and then promptly chastised me for thinking such a thing.

  53. Code2mind Says:

@ mama g - for a wedding, i’ll sacrifice a day out of this dieting for some in n out..

hiring a masubi-bar or even a sushi chef would be cool.. now im getting hungry. looks like i’ll be having L&L for dinner.

  54. wwar1ace Says:

@Code2mind… You know, I’ve never been one for L&L (and I live close by). I much prefer Shaka’s or Back Home in Lahaina.

  55. nimur Says:

now that i’ve listened to this few more times… garageband is pretty awesome. it really cleaned up the background noise that is usually in your videos. did you use the same mic as you normally do? nice mix as well, good use of the vocal effects. wouldve been interesting if you did some stereo effects as well. isnt mixing fun..? cant wait till you top this one…

@mama g- last i heard in ‘n out trucks dont do fries… and with all those diets maybe you dont need any food at all, it’s not like usual wedding food is any better for you. or tastes any better…

@wwar1ace- you like “back home”? i know one of the owners. we sure do have a lot of good hawaiian places around here. it’s too bad code2mind has to settle for l&l….

  56. Rishi Says:

    woah, vocoder!

  57. coffee Says:

i like this video a lot! Very beautifully and uniquely made.

I originally watched this back on monday night/tuesday morning, after waking up from my ‘nap.’ I can honestly say it was quite disturbing at 3:30AM in the morning. The candles and the little hand thing? That made me shiver. =]

Sorry about your toenails. I’ll trade you one for a song? ;]

    Lovely video btw!

  58. sabafa Says:

    @ MamaG

I’ve just been watching a wedding video and was going to post it for anyone interested to ponder over it being real or not and then find that you’ve been talking about the paying to off load your daughters scam - ahrm, I mean weddings (lol & = co-inky-dinky 2 or wot:P) - it must be an even harder cross to bare when they’ve already upped sticks, so maybe you should up the joke stakes to reflect that by cutting the costs down by insisting that it be rice that’s thrown and then serve that up after everything’s signed, sealed and delivered, which, if believed, might help you keep hold of your much loved babies for good or have those costly duties taken out of your remit, a sort of parent win, win, scam! Haha!

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=K0DmtmmFEVo

    @ Kina

    Congratulations!

  59. mark Says:

    @ sabafa

Perchance the video upon which you were mentioning happenstance earlier quite in the way that you made this comment may be in fact a fiction of reality or vice-versa, whichever happens to be the true paradigm of what the poster’s intentions really were to begin with. No matter the sponsors of the wedding, it begs the question of which intentions in dealing with rice and edible things whatnot, the cost of said food and plans, really are, as there is some mitigatible benefits, whether real or imagined, as to whom could actually say?

  60. Poon Says:

Great video, haha love the creativity and quirkiness.

got a quick tangent q if u dont mind, what kind of uke do you play? how much did it run you? ive been looking into buying one and was just curious.

    again loved the vid

    later!

  61. Code2mind Says:

@wwar1ace & nimur - lol.. never actually been to or heard of Shaka’s or Back Home in Lahaina. But im always willing to try.. :) i guess i’ll have to look around my area for one. btw, i never did get my l&l, ended up at souplantation w/ friends. would have rather had a masubi :p

  62. Misa Says:

    @mark

    hahahahahaha

  63. wwar1ace Says:

@Code2mind… Where you at? (i.e. your living location)

  64. kina Says:

    @poon
i have an old kamaka ukelele, it was my grandfather’s from hawaii :) i lucked out!

  65. Code2mind Says:

@wwar1ace - im in North Hills in the valley.

  66. mark Says:

    @ misa

    you got it. ;)

  67. wwar1ace Says:

@kina… Any luck with that puzzle, after the hint-to-end-all-hints?

@Emi… You were wondering about what pens I use, here you go. I think I have the 7-pen set.

  68. Toni Brown Says:

Kina — I received the 2 CDs I ordered and have listened to nothing else since … I’m enclosing a link to MY blog, where I’ve ‘arted’ my ‘review’ … I hope you actually have time to read your comments, seeing as you’ve received so many …

    http://seaweedandgardenias.blogspot.com/2008/10/kina-grannis-my-review.html

  69. Ken Says:

is it weird that I spent one whole night watching all of Kina’s youtube vids? i was barely introduced to her music a few weeks ago so I felt I had to catch up!

@Kina, great job on the vid and the cover! it really showed that you put lots of time and effort into it. when are you gonna have another show? i want autographs on my cd’s! of course I should probably buy them first. but that’s besides the point.

Oh and I hope your toes feel better.

  70. gu3ssit Says:

hey kina!! AHH im so late this week… this is a different video then the ones i am accustomed to seeing but its still good!

  71. sabafa Says:

    @mark

    2B cncs:-

Whatsoever! What about what’s what, whereby, what have you is what’s what!

    Or if it’s needed:-

Whatsoever! What about what’s what, whereby, said post is what have you and is what’s what upon posting!

Perhaps more would be of help:-

Whatever! Have you considered the fundamentals and details of a situation or process, whereby, said post is that which remains and need not be mentioned and is the true state or condition upon posting!

Or, whatever else you’d like it to be instead that floats your boat and gives a chuckle!

As for your question, THE PARTIES CONCERNED - duhhh!!!

OMG, I’ve found this so tedious and unlaughable that I guess I need to have a laugh as Misa found it fun, so I guess it must be, but my dog’s not so good again and the Vet said a few days ago to come back in 2 to put said to death - Vet also said that earlier in the year too, so : /

I dunno, sigh, maybe I’ll just give this stuff a rest/permanent 1 even!

On the brighter side of things though, Mom’s now able enough to lie down in her bed again (has been out of it since b4 Kina went without a mattress) although, apparantly it kills her, so she must be a descendent of Lazarus or Jairus’ daughter as she keeps managing to escape the consequences of such again and again for what must be the third time now = a wry smile raised on this face now, so I’ll go in peace and continue to live with Faith as Hope’s getting slimmer than an anorexic!

  72. sabafa Says:

    RE My last posting:-

I HAVE HAD SOME GOOD NEWS TODAY & HAVE SOME MORE WEDDING RELATED STUFF TO SHARE IN THE FORM OF A PLAYLIST

I’m glad to be able to report that having ignored the Vet’s death set date for my midget model spaniel, and reset it for today in the hope that she might fluke another recovery by gaining extra, extra time in which to recover and finish off the last of the last extra dose of tablets given with the 2 day countdown to doom and guess what, the Vet’s pleased to say that she’s obviously been taken well care of as wasn’t expecting her to recover and she doesn’t even need any more steroid shots as the brain inflamation from the bleed is now nearly gone, so she just needs to build up again but to take her back again if any worries:) so, Vet must be seriously shocked though, as didn’t charge for today’s time and did that on purpose too!

So all like YAY, but still truly dodgy as she lost the ability to know how to eat without being force fed, and until yesterday, had only relearnt to use her tongue to lick the food as if it were water she was trying to lollop up, but occassionaly now actually manages to bite the food too, so looking good, Good, GOOD, unlike my writing, which is up the swanee because of continual lack of sleep, please excuse this aspect:)

Woo - first bl(a)hg post I think so ‘Hi’ everyone and hope you’re all well.

Really loved this video, it certainly made me smile and the
song is annoyingly catchy in a good way. I haven’t heard the original Rihanna version since I have the original release of GGGB and haven’t heard it on the radio. Your version is ace though and it’d be hard to beat. It looks like you had a load of fun making it anyway which is always good.

Hope the toenail loss doesn’t give you any trouble and you recovered from your 20 miler. I can empathise with the sore shoulders btw - I end up with the same plus sore arms on long runs and it can be really annoyingly uncomfy! Guess I’ll have to start doing weights again soon.

I may be ending up in San Jose for four weeks training so might end up needing advice from all you Californians! Hmmm. Maybe if there is something on I can make it to a gig.

Don’t know what the weather is like there but it was ironically warm and sunny in London for the first Surrey winter cross country league races!

On which talk show would you most like to perform?
What do you think about while running?
If you could have a real-life pokemon which would you choose?
    What is your favorite beverage?
Have you ever used a firearm?

Hi Kina, new fan here!. didn’t get a chance to read up on your blog entirely, but sorry about your toes.

That paralyzed body thing is uber weird and it used to happen to me too. I think the only way to get over it is to imagine that you have superpowers. Somehow it works for me, but you definitely have to have a really good imagination.

I must sound like a freakin weirdo, but somehow I feel ok tellin you about it..

BTW, I am completely addicted to Dexter. The writer/director is doing a really awesome job on the show!

    This.

    Is.

    Awesome!

The extra effort really shows and it was well worth it ;)

BTW I once lost a fingernail when I slammed my finger in a car door (accidentally). So I feel your pain…or, rather, FELT your pain, seeing as how that was about 10 years ago.

Oh and there was this one time when I was spending the night at my cousin’s house and one of her friends was there also, and we heard the door open at like 2 in the morning. We were so terrified because her mom was asleep in the other room, and we would have heard her if she was up and about. We didn’t move for about 3 minutes, just listening for what we thought was someone breaking in. After the initial paralysis wore off we went to investigate (armed with a knife my cousin had, for some reason, kept under her bed. I guess for times like this one). We never did find out who it was, but we later figured it was probably just her sister picking something of hers up, thinking we’d all be asleep.

P.S. I hope you don’t ever grow out of your weirdness.

    :)

You Tube is showing the ‘no longer available’ for your ‘Too Soon’ song within your original playlist:O!

    GHOST STORY = http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ElkRTHkGwng

Do not be scared off by the title, it’s really one to get sentimental and weep over.

Will there be a Grannis String Trio-Quintet video element to your fright night meetup? Cat gut can be so scary in use/misuse;)

OMG, light switched on moment, maybe you’re so adept that you can play/learn to play the cello enough to slot in something sometime, perhaps when you’ve more time after your very noble marathon stuff’s on the fall wind down - you so0 know that we know that you love the cello too, so it’s almost like you have to and almost a definite should do if at all possible and if waivering about it, just think of all those extra moments you’d have to use your eyes/features to emote to us, twould be so cool, so I’d say that’s a long-term request up for acceptance then Kina, although, if the piano is anything to go by, you’ll probably have a video up of you playing the cello b4 you even get to read this - especially as it’s highly likely to be classed as TLDR!lol!

    @ mark

May your cheeky humour always be met with tolerance and deliver nought but smiling laughter unto you!

Also, thank you for your kindness towards my dog<them3
